Trying to restore it to a previous version" That's surprising, we use a debug firmware version at the factory to thoroughly test the unit before shipping. It's possible this unit missed the "reload the official firmware" step afterward. There are loads of other possibilities, but it was the first that came to my mind. Good idea plugging it in and changing the firmware with the website. Choosing any one of the official builds ought to bring it to a workable state. Please let us know if it does not.

This just came to my attention today, sorry about the super late response. This is the first we've heard of 1.0.4 being problematic. At this point, I don't have enough information to dive any deeper on that. However, 1.0.5 was released last week, you can try that.

These cars have notoriously bad gauge motors. I bought a 2004 with four gauges broken. You can get a kit for $40 with all new gauge motors and solder them in yourself in an hour or two, or pay $200 for someone else to do it. I’d recommend this place: http://drspeedometer.com/

It's very likely that it's related to the transmission or the drive belt, not the tires. Are you sure you don't have the parking brake set when you are checking belt tension? (2) Do you have the little finger thingy sticking out of the rear plate that allows you to push by hand. Is that out or in? (3) It's possible that the pivot for the tensioner has rusted up, if it's been sitting. Getting under and eyeballing it should tell you.
