Background
The Dell Latitude E7440 is a sleek, business-oriented laptop weighing 3.6 pounds. The device is made out of aluminum with a powder-coated base and either a non-touch matte LCD or a touchscreen that uses Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ glass to prevent the screen from cracking. The E7440 comes with an HD webcam and microphone for video calls as well as an optional backlit keyboard perfect for late-night work. High end models often include an SSD (Solid State Drive), while lower end versions may use a SSHD (Solid State Hybrid drive). To protect workplace or personal data, the device offers optional security features including a fingerprint reader, smart card reader, and contact-less smart card reader.
Designed for professionals, the laptop either has Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 Professional preinstalled. The system could be configured with a 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5 or i7 processor.
Note: Depending on how the machine was configured if you have a Windows 7 machine, it can be done with Windows 8 Pro downgrade rights (most common), or a Windows 7 Pro key (uncommon, but possible). These 7 Pro product key systems cannot accept Windows 8.1 as the key is integrated into the BIOS, starting with windows 8. To quickly test, make a Windows 8.1 boot drive - if it asks for a key, it never had Windows 8 installed.
Identification
The Dell Latitude E7440 can be identified by its black keyboard with baby blue touches and the name Latitude E7440 written below the left side of the keyboard.
