The camera will not turn on.

Replace the battery with one that has charge and ensure that the latch to the battery-chamber is closed.

If your battery does have charge and the camera still won’t turn on, there may be dirt obstructing the battery terminal, or it may simply be broken. Wipe the battery chamber with a dry cloth, then reinsert the battery. If the camera still won’t turn on, then the battery terminal may need replacing.

The following are possible problems that could cause the camera lens to work improperly or not at all.

If the lens fails to move, there may dirt stuck in the unit preventing it from moving. Open up the lens, wipe it down with a cloth, then put it back in.

If the lens still won’t move, the gears inside the lens may be misaligned. Open up the lens, adjust the gears, then put the lens back in. If you do this and the lens is still stuck, you may need to replace the lens.

If the lens fails to respond to inputs, it is possible that the connections between the lens and the motherboard have been disrupted. Gently wipe the circuit board with a cloth to remove any particles that may be disturbing the connection, and also ensure that the orange and gold ribbons that connect the lens and motherboard are attached. If that fails, you may need to replace the motherboard.

If the lens is visibly cracked or otherwise broken, the entire lens unit will need replacement.

The screen remains off when the camera is turned on.

Turn the camera off and then back on again. If the screen is still unresponsive, replace the battery with one that has charge, then turn the camera back on.

If your screen is cracked or otherwise apparently damaged, it will need to be replaced.

You may have funky camera settings or another software issue causing the screen to not work properly. Turn your camera off and on again to see if those issues are resolved. If they aren't, something inside the screen may not be working properly. Try replacing the screen.

One or more buttons on the camera are difficult to press or do nothing when pressed. Or both.

Connections between the buttons and the motherboard or circuit board may have something interfering with them or may be outright broken. Gently wipe them off with a cloth to remove any particles that may be disrupting the connection. If the buttons still don't work, replace the motherboard or circuit board.

If a button is difficult to press, something may be stuck underneath the button. You will need to open up your camera, remove the obstruction, and reassemble the camera.

When taking a picture, the flash does not fire despite the camera being on the correct settings.

Often times the battery does not have enough charge to power the flash. If this is the case, remove the battery and allow it an adequate amount of time to charge before replacing it.

Extensive use of the flash may cause the bulb to die. Try replacing the bulb.

If the flash fails to respond to inputs and does not fire, the flash and corresponding connections to the circuit board may be broken. Wipe the circuit board down with a cloth to remove any particles that may be interfering with the connection. If the flash still doesn't work, try replacing the circuit board.
