I have a shark navigator professional having problems with the suction tube staying attached when in use,need advise.

Where is the off on switch

HI, I have a clog in the main part. Have taken the hose off, and cleaned out as much as possible, also cleaned from the brush side. But cannot reach it all. Tried a hangar.. it is less than 2 years old

My 95 year old father has had a Shark Professional rotator for one month and it has totally lost suction the cup is not full the filters have been replaced there is no suction from the nose of the shark but the hose has full suction. He is really frustrated because this vacuum cleaner is not that old and if he had known what he knows now about this vacuum he would never have paid $500 for it he would go on with a Dyson !&&* of a lot better than a shark

My roller stopped working and I assumed the belt broke. Well, I took it apart and the belt was fine, so I turned it on and it magically worked!!! So I put it all back together and started it again and IT DIDN'T WORK!!! Please, if anyone has any helpful suggestions, I'd be eternally grateful!!!!!

I was vacuuming and it stopped working I than unplugged it and plugged it back in in the standing position it won't turn on than you lower it to vacuum and it turns on but it doesn't have the power it had before can any one help

The roller section stopped working, I understand this is a common problem with this vacuum. I went and bought a new, expensive roller section, plugged it in. The roller worked for a half second and now I can't get it to again. This is a "NEW" roller section doing exactly the same thing as the old one. Any ideas?

I have a shark navigator professional. The brush won't spin when on carpet. But will spin any other time. What is making it stop, get stuck only when using on the carpet. I've tried cleaning roller, checking the belt. Cleaning all filters. Nothing seems to correct it.

When I turn my Shark Navigator on, the brush will spin for about 20 seconds, then it stops and the power light starts blinking. The vacuum is still on, but the brush just stops. I've cleaned the !&&* out of it, making sure nothing was obstructing the brush. Any suggestions? It's only about a year and a half old.

If the green light comes on for one second with the the brush motor but turns red and the brush motor stops. Then make sure the red side of the motor is up. That fixed mine.

I have a Shark Rotator NV752 and the lights are coming on and the rotator is working fine but it doesn't make any sound and it doesn't suck anything up. I just used the vacuum about an hour ago and it worked just fine but now its not working!!!

Resolved issue: Roller brush worked when vacuum bent back but no suction

I have a shark navigator NV356 and it kept shutting off after a few minutes. The roller brush kept spinning, but the vacuum wouldn't suck anything up. I thought the vacuum was unclogged but it turns out the filter inside the canister had a layer of dirt particles covering it. I took wiped the dirt particles off with a paper towel an the vacuum worked perfectly.

We paid too much money for this pc of Crap. Checked everything and need another floor piece because the board is bad. 92 to replace. Its cheaper to buy another and the warranty doesn't cover it

I was using the upholstery attachment and turned off the vacuum cleaner to empty the cup and my grandson turned the vacuum on without the cup and now it will not turn on. Has anyone ever had this happen? Did it just overheat the vacuum by any chance? So frustrated I've just had this over a year and have 2 dogs and 3 kids I need the vacuum to work! And I cannot afford to get another one... Other than that it's worked great!

I have a Shark Navigator with lift away canister, about 2 years old. The other day I detached the nozzle from the power head to vacuum under my baseboard heater, went to reattach to the base/power head and now the plugs do not line up to make a connection. I took it to my local vacuum repair shop to see if I was doing something silly and 3 of them so far have been unable to fix this problem. They are completely dumbfounded Please help me to get this resolved as I spent way too much money for this unit to be unusable.

I have a shark navigator which is having problems with the powerhead roller brush. It is working fine when switched on and off the floor but as soon as I put it down on the floor and start vacuuming, it makes an awful sound and stops spinning and appears to be manually rolling. As soon as I stop, it stops. When I lift it up off the floor it is spinning fine. Any suggestions?

I WILL NEVER buy another shark vacuum cleaner. I paid close to $300.00 after 3 months it stopped working!! I got so many problems when I tried to get shark to fix it that I gave up. I had a warrantyfor a year but they made it difficult for me. I bought a $50.00 red devil and after a year it is still doing what it's supposed to do. As for the shark and the other pieces that came with it, it's in my closet taking up room. Time to get rid of it. All the talk of how great it is, is not true. Don't buy one. I never will.!!Thanks.

Just spoken to Shark customer services, very helpful. Mine wasn’t picking up dirt as it used to - turned out that the neck of the floor unit had a crack in it! They are replacing the whole vacuum for me, it is around 2 years old. Very pleased!

Our Shark Navigator roll-away vacuum wouldn’t suck. There was a loud noise and sounds like air blowing out a hole on the side. It turned out there was an ad-card jammed in the main metal tube. There was also dirt clogs in the small connector hose to rotator brush and in the handle tube. After clearing all three blockages, Shark is working great again!

I’m short, And the metal part of the handle is to long. How do you shorten the metal part of the handle???? Is there a screw to do this or is this a standard piece and cannot be shortened?

I purchased the shark duo clean slim around Easter it worked as good as my eureka that is 8 yrs old and duct taped here and there well used but didn’t take much time for it to kinda suck the suction is good at first when cup is empty but it barely fills up and doesn’t seem to be as strong if I go get the ol workhorse out it will pick up what the shark couldn’t WHY??!!

If suction is lost only when using the floor attachment, this might help. After I cleaned all the clogs in the usual places and installed three new filters, the brush unit was still spinning but not picking up. Since the handheld unit was working just fine, I reasoned there must be some piece used exclusively by, but separate from, the floor attachment. I traced the vacuum path and saw the upright piece labelled “Extension Wand.” The red latch at the bottom releases this part. You should be able to see straight through this tube; I could see no light. I dug out the huge blockage, which included a lens cleaning microfiber cloth, and now I have my wonderful Shark back in working order. I haven’t seen any reference to cleaning blockages from this piece. I figure because it has no bends or crevices, it isn’t prone to clogging unless you vacuum up cloths! I hope this helps someone.

I got a Navigator about 4 years ago, it has been really great, never lost suction except when it was time to empty the holster for dust. Well, lately the suction stopped completely and I was just about to shell out another 145-200 bucks and get another one. I washed the filters, still no change. But thought it was strange that there would be plenty of suction in the hose but not through the rollers. So it luckily it dawn on me after reading all this above that there was this tunnel behind the rollers on the side connection to the hose. It was FULL of compressed debris and dust, had to work to clean that out. But it worked, a miracle my Sharp Navigator is back in full force!

I have the same Shark. About a year old. Wont suction debris into the chamber. Gets clogged at the opening in the head of the vacuum every single time I use it. I've cleaned the hose, every filter and the roller. This vacuum is a piece of crap. Never again.

In the section Vacuum (Won't Stand On It’s Own / The Latch Is Broken) You state it’s under warranty. I had a problem with my brush not turning and the vacuum is only 10 months old I called customer service. We did a few things to try and get it going but no success. I was then told I would have to purchase a whole new head for $79. I said no it’s still under warranty but was told the warranty doesn’t cover that, the only thing thats covered is the motor and the cost of the part was $79. I have the Navigator liftaway, just want to let everyone know your on your own if something goes wrong unless it’s the motor. I thought Shark was better than that.

I had the same thing happen and had the same thoughts, however I finally had a Rep. from Shark figure out that when I detached the hose, it wasn't full reattached “click sound” was all. That completely kept vac from switching on. A safety measure I could do without.

Had my shark Infinity for prob ten plus years. Love it. It still works well as long as I clean or change filters, etc.

However, it recently started making a loud noise on the higher power setting, some of the time. Still sucking, but scares me so I turn it iff. I feel like something inside is out of place. Pipes are not blocked, cup is emptied, there are some threads and hairs on the roller.

I dont see how to take it apart to see. A local vacuum dealer/repair guy says he cannot fix Shark products. (Prob hopes I will buy a Dyson from him).

The self propelled function is not working. All else appears to be working but now you have to push it. What might be causing the loss of self propelled function?

Have this model. Very low suction. Found substantial blockage in bend of the handle. Used wire with a very small 90 degree end and was able to clear it. Thanks for the help

I have this model and when I turned it on today it would not start. I called the 1-800 number and was told that unless I have a purchase date he could not troubleshoot with me.

I can’t get canister to lock back in… the part where you take it off to use on stairs… it won’t lock in when I put it back on.

I have a NV751 that stopped picking up anything.

I open the rotating brush area and clunks of pet hair were bunched up everywhere.

Looking back UPWARD on the suction hose I discovered one of those bleeping Child Proof Outlet plug covers almost perfectly wedged in the hose and was perfectly BLOCKING the hose pickup.

It took a straight slot screwdriver and some needle nose pliers but I got it removed.

THAT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS !

The vacuum works like NEW again.

So if your NV751 is not suctioning, check filters first. From the rotator head, check back UPSTREAM and chances are that that is an obstruction somewhere in the hose line itself.

Take the plastic lift away part and run it under hot water. There is a mesh part inside that gets so covered in dust that it looks like solid plastic. Once that is clear the suction is returned.

Sharks warranty is not worth the paper it’s written on. Vacuum is 18 mos old. Roller brush is not turning. Called customer service and they wanted to sell me a whole new head for $83.00. Told me it couldn’t be repaired. And the head is not under warranty. When I pay $300 for a vacuum cleaner I expect it to last longer than 18 mos. I told the customer service rep that I can buy a Bissell or a Dirt Devil or any other vacuum cleaner for the cost to replace the head, plus these vacuum cleaners can be repaired easily when the belt breaks. And if not I, I can buy a new one for less than $79. Shark should make it easy for customer to repair or request customer send back to have repaired. Customer service rep was of no help. He was not interested in trying to fix the problem. Just wanted to sell me an $83 replacement head. He must be on commissions! So buyers beware. Shark will not stand behind their product and there is no warranty!

I have A shark hoover the one with a switch for carpet and switch for hard floor…the carpet one works fine but when I switch to do hard floor the hoover dosent work although the lights come on? Anyone know how I can fix this please

I had the same problem and I replaced the dirt cup. Kinda spendy but worth it in the end. Try Amazon. Mine is still kicking after 10 years. Will never purchase any other brand.

I posted a while back that I couldn’t get the lift-away canister hooked back on the vacuum sweeper. After several attempt…. I gave up and opened up the the sweeper.. unscrewed lots of screws to get to the area where the problem was and found a spring that popped out. So I got the spring back where it belongs and put it all back together.. it works now! Canister is hooked back on now.

I have a shark upright hoover, there is a smell of burning when hoovering. I have checked everything and it’s all clean and clear, but when hoover is upright and hose is removed to clean the hoover stops working. Any help would be greatly received. I called shark & they had me take off the canister & take out the filters. She said when it’s running if there’s no air blowing out where filters were it means motor is bad. Just had to give our model # which was a NV70 & pay $20 for shipping & they’re sending a new motor. Hope this will save some people some time. I practically took the entire sweeper apart!

Yes it says theres a 5 year warranty but they mislead you with that. My rolller head stopped turning it wasn't even a year old. They wouldn't replace it they said the warranty only covers the MOTOR. But, after 3 calls and getting mad and that I was going to let everyone I knew and then some know they didn't stand behind their product. They decided to send me a replacement head but it was purple. I called and told them it was unacceptable mine was brown. They said it would fit I told them I didnt care as much as I paid I wasn't gonna have 2 different colors. After 2 calls and getting mad they said there was nothing else they could do and I should be satisfied they sent me the head they don't normally do that. I said yes there is something else they could do, replace it with a new one. To my surprise he agreed and understood how I felt. He also was the only halfway nice person I spoke with everyone else was not very friendly and one was nasty. So don't buy it for the 5 year warranty

My shark is 3yrs old. It has sucktion but acts clogged. I turn it on and the hose is getting tightly sucked. I've checked for all clogs. Everything is clear. It acts as if its comming from down by the brush. The motor even ramps up. But there is nothing clogged. What more can I do?

There is little to no suction when I’m using the typical setting, when I turn the BRUSH on I just feel like it' kicks the dirt around on my hardwood floors. still minimum suction. the vacuum is only 4 years old, so I dont think I should be having these issues. I was going to buy a new one, but figured I’d ask here first before I get completely frustrated and throw it away. I have watched other Youtube videos and have followed those instructions, but have not regained any suction to the regular setting on the vacuum.

I sucked up a sock. I emptied the cups and it’s not on the roller but now there is no suction. Where do I check now?

Followed reset instructions. All hoses now clean. Inside filter and front rotator filter now clean. Waited 45 minutes. Guess what - It works now…… Thank you very much

Just under 2 yr old and it’s dead won’t turn on . I cleared everything and tried in in multiple outlets DEAD

We bought new filters thinking maybe us air having them out was t enough. Cleaned the filter with toothbrush in the cup part thingy and still making weird sucking noise but had a lot of suction when u put ur fingers down by the little vent on side. Started pull every piece off one by one looking for a clog we missed and sure enough up in the handle part at the curve was a huge clog. Found that using the hair remover for bathtub drained worked for most of it then was able to hook back up and all the great suction I have now blew the rest out. Wow was so preparing myself to have to buy a new one. I love this darn vacuum. I have never owned o e this long. I have had this for at least 10 yrs and thinking more like 12-13 yrs. whenever the Nv352e came out.

The problem I am having is not on here. I am trying to the the wand but when I take it out to use it, it makes a loud air flow sound and doesn’t really pick up anything. I don’t know how to fix this issue?

I have a Shark Powered Lift-Away Pro and the Lift-Away bucket won’t come off the wand. The button depresses but the bucket feels like it is stuck and won’t budge off the wand, which is the reason we purchased this in the first place. Any ideas on what we could do to get it off or unstuck. I can’t see an obvious problem that would be causing it to stick.

My Shark Navigator is also less than two years old. It will work fine for awhile, then the suction will just stop. I’ve emptied the dirt cup, washed out the filter, checked for blockages and nothing. I’ll try again the next day and it will work fine. WHAT IS THE DEAL?

Vacuum just stopped suctioning in middle of using. No clogs, nothing in or wrapped around roller brush. Has suctioning through hose. The lights won't even turn on. I have a Shark Navigator, lift away.

On the right side below the canister there is s small rectangular hole approximately 1/2”x1”. Is there supposed to be a cover over it. Mine is missing but when I cover it the suction resumes. Problem : Can I get a cover? Should I cover it? All help appreciated.

We have had this thing for about 4 years and this has not happened but since we have lift it up with he lift away it won't reattached, how do I reattached it?

My problem is the dirt is not going into the canister it is piling up on top of the foam filter. Yes the filter is clean, I have changed it twice. Best vac I have ever had, but this is terrible.

Everything is clean and suction from hoses are great. I can even clean the floors in first (gear) but when I use the gear for carpet/rugs it does not suction or self propel.

My brush won’t rotate even after cleaning the hair off. Is there something I need to reset or turn

Had mine about year. The hover won't work when on the hard floor setting as soon as u put it on the carpet setting it works. Anyone else had the same problem. If so did u fix it or send off to fix

I have a shark Lift-Away ADV, model LA322, that I bought 4 months ago. The vacuum works when pulled from the base, it even spins when lifted off the floor. The indicator light is green and I also cleaned the filters in both areas. There no blockage in any of the hoses and everything is connected securely. I cleaned out all access hair, strings, and etc. from around the bristles to free the brush, but it still will not work there is nothing stopping it from spinning . I am very frustrated and my Wife is on my back about getting it fixed! PLEASE HELP ASAP! Thanks in advance.

The brushes on my shark 370 have quit rotating. I have tried everything suggested but it still is not rotating. Shame, I really liked the vacuum cleaner but will have to find another now.

Vacuuming carpet on the correct setting with green light on. Then the rollers stop and red light comes on.

I being a long time Shark upright owner for years with no issues, 2 years ago at Christmas we bought my Mom a new lift away Shark model NV355. We’ve had the motor replaced 3 times all still with the same issue NO suction after about 3’ of use. Needless to say I’ve spent more time on the phone with tech support and waiting for replacements than actually using it. Today we received the latest motor replacement with the same issue. Now, they’re replacing with a different model. We’ll see what happens with it.

My shark lift away - when you switch the brush roller on , the green light illuminates for a second , the brush turns for a second then the light turns red and the brush stops. The light remains red until powered off . Any one know what this means ? The belt is ok and there is no obstructions. ??

We just bought a shark navigator to replace our Dyson that we have had over 10 years. Got to use it 3 or 4 times and the suction is bypassing. I have done everything I could to make sure there are no clogs in the line. Used a big shop vac to try to suck out the shark lines. Took off the aluminum handle looked through it, was clean, then ran a broom handle from there to the head of the vacuum. No plugs, just no suction. For some reason its acting clogged but cant find it without taking it apart. Quality is not a concern anymore. I recommend Dyson for sure! Spend the $300 more!

A black rectangle flat foam got stuck in the bottom hose between brush and handle. It appears to be an unglued piece from the inside of the floor brush. Should I run it without it or try to take apart the brush and reglue it? Thanks. Kelly

My shark is less than 2 years old. I routinely maintain hoses, filters, and roller brush. It has suddenly stopped working. Pretty sure the motor is going out because it gets super hot then just shuts off. I would return it but never dreamed an expensive machine like this would be so inferior so didn't keep receipt. I would NOT recommend this vacuum to anyone.

I noticed black stuff on the filter that is on front of the shark vacuum- every time I use it since new - also hoses cracked and vac keeps falling towards me when using hose to get dust from a high location or if I move - it almost hit my dogs - hit my right hip - not nice.

Is felt purchased at fabric store save to use to reconstruct round filter that goes in bottom under circular foam pads x 2?

I'm frustrated with being very careful with this vac- and its sending dist and bad odour into the room - I keep it facing away from the kitchen when using it - its like a bad odour and dist like situation - the cannister i carefully clean every month - but when you empty it - dust every where on the outside of the canister. I clean the filter on top thoroughly - i let everything dry carefully.

Also I was sent this vac from head office usa because the fanthom my favorite vac - in beautiful condition would not turn on suddenly- love that vac its so much better then the shark.

Does anyone know how to get the fanthom running - is it a fuse inside it ? I'd be so happy to get it working again ~ I have kept all the special filters in excellent condition by washing them carefully swapping them out.

Any help or information would be really really appreciated big time :)

Would anyone know if the thickness of the felt filter piece for the purple shark matters.

I found felt - but it appears thin compared to the worn old piece of felt sewn to another filter type of fabric - it kind of looks like the furnace filture type of material sewn on the bottom of the felt.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I have two problems with my Shark. The first is that the dust cup wont open. The other is that after cleaning all parts, filters etc, I ran the vacuum which emitted a terrible smell. Any ideas?

Brush stops will sweeping

I have a problem not listed, with the LiftAway model. The vacuum works fine for regular floor vacuuming but then it sounds like it turns off, it stops sucking when I pull out the wand, then back on as soon as I stick it back in.

I have a shark navigator and have only had it for a couple months, I was vacuuming and it just stopped suction. It turns on, and the brush roll still works. I cleaned out the dust bin, the hose, and the filter. I’m not sure what to do now.

I had a problem with my roller not working and tried to take out the relay but didn’t work. Finally after hours of trial and error I figured out the connectors where the head connects to the shaft were bent and not making a good connection !! Crazy ! Works fabulously now ! ;-)

Less than 6 months old the roller doesn’t spin nor is the green light coming on- all else seems to be working ?

The suction is ok when you disconnect the hose from the main stem. The problem is it is not picking up through the main roller if the roller option is turned off. Overall, when the machine was new it had much stronger suction even though I maintain the filter, the suction has declined and the engine is making a different noise. This is my second Shark and I'm disappointed.

My roller head turns on and off. But mostly off!!!! And yes the roller button is on and in the right place. And there is no Obstruction.....

I have a dk burgandy color lift away. Had it a few months.i have purchased three sharks plus i have the hard floor cleaner combo. Now that bring said my brush wont turn. Everything is clear i have checked everywhere it says to check. All filters are still snow white because thats how long ive had it.i am not a mechanic and the next step is removing all the screws and taking it apart. Come in now.!! I cant do that. I tried to return to merchant. Cant find receiptso no go. Before i pay for shippi g and spend 150.00 for repairs i may as well buy a nother sweeper. Im so upset with shark right now. I'm somewhat disappointed to read how many people have problems with the snap on the dust cup not attaching or coming loose. I suspect that this is a common enough problem that Shark is aware of it. I also suspect that it is a defect and they are avoiding it. I have a temp fix. Run the plastic snap under hot running water and wipe it well before reassembling. That will remove any clogs in the mechanism. That seems to do the trick for awhile. You may have to repeat rinsing the snap a few times.

I have a Shark Apex vacuum. I had the same problem...the motor would not turn on, but the light would turn on, so I knew that there was power. I pulled everything apart, cleaned the rollers, the hose, the dust bin, the filters, and turned it on and off several times, but the motor would not turn on. Eventually I realized the slide adjustment for dept of pile was the cause. I slid it back and forth and immediately started working after. I was so happy, because the vacuum was only a little over a year old and was worried the motor had gone bad.

The rollers won't spin. All of the settings seem to be correct. The suction is fine. The instructions say the power switch should be on position II. However, my power switch doesn't have that setting. It is either off or on.
