Device Won’t Power On

The controller will not turn on when power button is pressed.

Low Battery Charge

Plug the provided charging cable in to the charging port located on the bottom of the controller. And plug the other end into a standard 12 volt outlet.

Defective Charging Cable

If the device fails to charge then make sure the cable is plugged into the controller and outlet correctly. If it still fails to charge then make sure the cable is not damaged or falling apart. If it is damaged or still will not charge the controller, then purchase a new cable.

Battery Not Properly Plugged In

Make sure that the battery connecter is properly connected as shown in the Battery Replacement Guide.

Defective Battery

If the battery fails to charge or will not hold a proper charge then make sure that all other troubleshooting suggestions on this page have been completed. Then, as a last resort purchase a new battery and replace the old one with the new one. Here is the repair guide.

The App Is Not Opening On My Phone

Upon connecting your phone to the controller, the app is not automatic opening.

The Cord Has A Bad Connection

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cord. If that does not fix it, Try using another cord.

The App Is Not Downloaded On Your Device.

If you did not already download the app on your device, you must do it before it can open automatically. To download, open your device’s app store. In the search section, search FreeFlight Mini. Download it. When it finishes downloading, you will be all set for takeoff.

The App Is Out Of Date

Parrot releases app updates on a continuous basis. It is important to keep up to date with new updates when they are released. To update, open your device’s app store.

Apple App Store: Tap on your profile icon in the top right hand corner. You will now see the apps that have been and need to be updated. Ensure that FreeFlight is updated.

Google Play Store: Tap on the three bar icon in the top left hand corner. Next, tap My apps and games. You will now see the apps that need to be updated. Ensure that FreeFlight is updated.

USB Won’t Connect To Smartphone

The USB will not connect to the smartphone while plugged in.

Poor Connection Between Cord And Port

Your phone will not respond when plugged in. To fix this, make sure the cable is being plugged in fully. Next, unplug and replug in the the USB cable. If still having trouble refer to Bad USB Cord.

Bad USB Cable

Cords go bad. To fix use a different cord. If still having trouble refer to Bad USB port.

Bad USB Port

Ports over time will fail. Take a look inside the port. If any of the connectors are bent or missing, you will need to replace the USB port on the device. Please refer to our Replacing USB port repair guide.

Slow Or Erratic Movements of The Joysticks

Your controller joysticks have a “sticky feeling” or “rough feeling” to them.

Residue Build-up

Over time, all the hard work you put into flying your drone, things can build up in the joysticks. Check to see if there is any residue in the joystick base by visually looking at the joystick and touch it. If you find build up, you will need to clean it. To clean it, use a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol and wipe clean. Then, use canned air to blow out the base. If still having trouble, the joystick might need to be replaced, please refer to our Replacing Joystick repair guide.

Joystick Not Seated In Place

Does your joystick skip around and not circle smoothly. It might not be seated in the base correctly. To fix , push the joystick down to see if it pops back into place. If it does not move, please refer to the Replacing Joystick repair guide.

Buttons Stuck Pressed Down

Buttons are stuck in the pressed down position and will not come back up on their own or at all.

Residue Build-Up

It is possible that the buttons are not functioning correctly because of residue or dirt build-up. It may be easy to see that there is some sort of residue causing the buttons to be stuck. First take compressed air and try to blow out the residue. If this fails then take a damp cloth or cotton swab and try wiping the controller off. Lastly, if all else fails, see our Replacing buttons repair guide to take the controller apart and clean the buttons.

Broken Button

It is a possibility that the controller has been dropped or the buttons have been pressed too hard. In the case of either of these events occurring, buttons could have been broken. If this is the case then take a look at our Replacing buttons repair guide to fix the buttons and get you back into action.
