Device won’t charge

When I plug in my Moto X4 the charging light will not turn on and the indicator on the screen does not show that it is charging

Needs more time to charge

When plugged in, the Moto X4 will take a few seconds before it starts charging. If the battery was completely emptied, the Moto X4 may take a few minutes before the device starts charging.

Bad charging cable

Check the charging cable to make sure it is not frayed. If the cable is cut or disconnected, it might be possible to solder the connection back together and insulate the soldering job with the proper heat shrink. Otherwise, look at finding another Moto X4 Turbocharger.

Improper charging

Make sure the charging cable is completely plugged in all the way. Also be sure to check that the charger is the original charger that came with your Moto X4, as some chargers may be too weak to even charge the Moto X4.

Screen is frozen or unresponsive

Screen does not register inputs

Device has not booted properly

Locate the power button on the right side of the Moto X4. Press and hold it down for 3 seconds until you have the option to power off the device, then turn it off. Let it set for a minute then restart it.

Bad contact with touchscreen

Clean your hands and dry them thoroughly before touching the device. Then check the screen for any foreign material and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth.

Device screen is damaged

Dropping this device or water getting into the phone from previous repairs can damage the screen. If display assembly is damaged, it will have to be replaced. Refer to our display assembly replacement guide.

Audio doesn’t work or is too quiet

When audio is played or phone rings, MotoX4 does not reach volume level set by user

Device volume muted

Turn up or down the volume using the uppermost two buttons located on the right side on the phone. The buttons turn up or down the volume respectively.

Ringer volume will not turn up

While running an application, only the actual volume may be adjusted and not the ringer. Go back to homescreen in order to adjust the ringer audio volume.

Earpiece is not clean

Make sure there is an obstruction in the ear speaker first because speaker can become more damaged if this is not the case. Use tweezers to pull out if the obstruction is lint or something larger. Use compressed air to blow out any dirt or dust.

Device won’t turn on

The power button is unresponsive and the device will not show any sign of powering on.

The device is not charged

Locate the charging port on the bottom of the phone . Plug in the phone using the original charger that it came with. After plugging it in, make sure the indicator light turns on and let the phone charge until it can be powered on.

The battery is not operating correctly

If plugging in the phone has no effect on the battery, it may need to be replaced. Refer to our replacement guide

The device is overheated

If the device has been left out in the sun for a while, it may have overheated. Place the phone in a cool area and let it set for several minutes before attempting to turn it on again.

Can’t connect to wifi and bluetooth

Device will not connect to wifi and/ or bluetooth

Device has not booted properly

If your device has not booted properly, try restarting the device. To hard restart the device, plug in your Moto X4 and hold down the power button for 10-20 seconds. If this does not restart the device, try holding down the power button and the volume down button at the same time for 30-40 seconds.

Wifi router is not functioning

Go into the Wi-Fi settings of the device and tap “Forget Network” on your network. Restart your router and reconnect to the same network again.

Bluetooth device is not functioning

Verify bluetooth device is working using another device. Most of the bluetooth issues occur from compatibility issues. Check to ensure both devices are compatible with each other. Try a soft reset of the device, turn off and on the bluetooth device and then remove pairing and reconnect completely.

To file under "Device won't charge", for Moto X4 (Android One).

My household has five Moto x4 phones. There are times when my x4 won't take a charge. I have tried all of the manufacturer-supplied charge cords when this happens, but it doesn't matter, so I've ruled out a bad charger. With one of the charge cords plugged in, I am able to start the phone up in "service (?) mode" by pressing the Volume Down and Power buttons together for several seconds. The phone becomes usable (while the charge cord is supplying electricity) when you enter "Factory Mode". (*NOT* factory reset!)

The trick I've found to finally get the phone to start charging again is to drain the battery 100%. I found this out after I left the phone unplugged for about 4 weeks and then, on a whim, plugged it in again, at which point it started charging normally. The phone worked normally thereafter, charging normally as well, until about a month later, when it repeated the behavior. This time, instead of waiting 4 weeks, I kept the charge cord off and forced the phone on by pressing the Volume Down and Power buttons together. At first, the "service (?) mode" appears for 20 seconds or so before the phone powers off. Keep doing this, and soon the "service (?) mode" flickers for just a few seconds before the phone powers off. Eventually, the "service (?) mode" won't even pop up, but you shouldn't try to charge it just yet. I waited two days to ensure the battery was 100% drained. (If you can afford to wait, I would avoid trying to charge it for as long as possible.)

In total, I've been able to "resurrect" my phone three times using this method. It may well be that the way to avoid this is to start recharging before the battery drops below a certain point, say 20%.

Of course, all of this time-consuming power draining would probably be avoided if the battery were REMOVEABLE.

Battery is removable but it’s not like nokia phone that gave you 0 resistance on water. I drop mine in the sink full of water and didn’t find out about it for over minutes and it’s six month after. no sign of water damage when I changed the battery.

You just need to follow up the guide. ifixit sell the battery with replacement kit and every thing you need to do it.

First my gmail started not sending emails; then my screen turned to black and white, it finally returned to color but I can’t search and some apps aren’t working. I have restarted several times and taken my sim card out and put back in. I have no idea what else to do.
