The computer won't power on

The computer will not turn on.

The battery is drained or bad

If your computer will not turn on, plug it in for 5 minutes and try turning it on again. Make sure the light for the power cord is on.

If the laptop only powers on with the power adapter plugged in, regardless of the displayed charge, the battery is faulty. Please refer to the guide on replacing the battery.

The power adapter is faulty

It is possible that the power adapter is faulty. First, check to make sure both ends of the cord are plugged in. If the light is not on, or the laptop is not charging, try plugging computer into another power outlet. If the laptop is still unresponsive, the power adapter is most likely faulty. You may need to purchase a new power adapter.

There are problems with the keyboard

The keyboard won't respond or the keys are missing.

The keyboard is unresponsive

If the keys do not respond, the keyboard is most likely broken or disconnected. Please refer to the guide on replacing the keyboard.

The keys are sticky or missing

If the keys work, but some are missing or difficult to press, you should replace your keyboard with a new one. Please refer to the guide on replacing the keyboard.

There is no audio

There is no sound coming from the computer.

The computer is muted

Your computer's volume may be muted. Try turning the volume dial to see if the audio output changes. The volume dial is located on the right side of the laptop. If the audio remains muted, try controlling the volume from the icon located in the right hand side of the Windows taskbar.

The headphones may be plugged in

If your volume is not on low, but you still cannot hear any sound, your headphones may be plugged in. Check to make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack. The headphone jack is located next to the volume dial on the right side of the laptop.

Audio problems still persist

If your audio still is not working, the speakers may need to be replaced. Please refer to the guide on replacing the speakers.

The computer is not recognizing a disc

Your laptop is not reading or writing any CDs or DVDs.

The disc is dirty or scratched

The disc inserted into the optical drive may be dirty or scratched. Try to clean the disc or find another disc to insert into the optical drive.

The optical drive is faulty

If your optical drive is not reading discs properly or your computer is displaying an error message pertinent to his problem, it may be broken and will need to be replaced. Please refer to the guide for replacing the optical drive.

The computer feels hot to the touch or shuts down unexpectedly

Your computer is hot to the touch or shuts down with an error message.

The battery feels hot

If your battery is hot to the touch, unplug it from the power source and turn it off until it cools down. Then plug it back into outlet. If the problem persists, there may be a problem with your fan.

It is possible that the fan has stopped working and may need to be cleaned or replaced. Please refer to the guide on replacing the internal fan.
