Buttons or the Screen not working

Either the buttons or the LCD screen do not function consistently or at all.

The Record Button does not Work

The buttons on any electronic device will wear out with use. If your RM-LVR1 will power on but one, or more, of the buttons do not work, the switches will need to be replaced.

RM-LVR1 will not Charge

I cannot get my remote to charge.

RM-LVR1 is not Charging

Make sure the problem is on the device by checking for the charging indicator light that is located next to the power in port on the RM-LVR1. If the light does not shine yellow when the RM-LVR1 is plugged in, then the charging port may be damaged. Try using a different cord, and or a different block to charge the device. Also try a different outlet, the current one may be dead.

Charging Port is loose

If the screw inside the charging port is loose, the device will not charge correctly. Make sure the screw inside the charging port is tight. Wiggling the cord around and/or check to ensure it is plugged in all the way.

RM-LVR1 Will not Turn On

My device is not turning on, even after charging.

Dead Battery

If the battery has not been charged in a while, the battery may not have enough power to start the RM-LVR1. The RM-LVR1 may need to charge for a while before it will turn on.

RM-LVR1 is frozen

If the device is on and the screen is unresponsive, the RM-LVR1 may be frozen or locked up. With the device charged: Open the charging port. Use a pen or similar object to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.

The battery may need replacing, visit our replacement guide or send into Sony for professional repairs.

RM-LVR1 got Wet

If your device gets water inside of it, DO NOT turn it on. Turning the device on may cause the device to short circuit, permanently damaging it. Carefully disassemble the device and put the components in a bowl of rice, making sure they are all completely covered. Allow at least 24 hours to pass before attempting reassembly. If the internal components are dry and the device still will not turn on, the battery may be damaged. Water can damage the battery, consider replacing it. If your device is still not working, it may be time to replace it. Make sure to take it to a reputable electronics recycling center

Camera Repeatedly Shuts Off

My camera keeps shutting off when connected to the RM-LVR1.

Dead Battery

If the camera powers off when not connected to the RM-LMR1, the camera's battery may be flat. Some cameras will automatically turn off when their battery is low to conserve power.

Auto Off Cycle

If the battery is charged, the RM-LVR1's "auto-off" feature may be the culprit. The RM-LVR1 will automatically cycle power to itself and the camera(s) after a preset amount of time. This can be changed in the device menu.

Bad or No Wireless Connectivity

I cannot connect to my camera or I quickly lose connection.

Incompatible Devices

Not all of Sony's camera's are compatible with the RM-LVR1. A comprehensive compatibility list can be found on Sony's website. Look for the “compatibility chart” under the device name.

RM-LVR1 cannot see camera(s)

Make sure both your camera and your remote are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they are not connected to the same network, or if one is not connected at all, the devices will not be able to connect.

The Wi-Fi connection options can be found in the settings menu.

Cannot see Wi-Fi signal

The working range of the device is 16ft (5m). If you are farther away than this, you may lose your connection.

Firmware is out of Date

The latest versions can be found on Sony's Product Updates page. Search for the relevant device and choose whichever computer type you wish to install the update from.

Broken Wi-Fi Antenna

If all else fails, the Wi-Fi antenna may be broken. If this is the case, it will have to be replaced.

I have a problem with my remote control. it will not turn on. When charging, the charging indicator lights up and the battery heats up as standard as during charging. I changed the battery but it didn't help. The red REC/ENTER light is constantly flashing. Three times long and seven times short in a row. Then a break and round again. After the reset, it stops flashing, but when turned on, it starts again and does not turn on. I can't find anywhere in the instructions what the flashing light means and what the error is. Can someone help me or advise what the problem is? Well thank you.
