Tablet Won't Turn On

No matter what you do, you can't get your tablet to turn on.

Press and hold the wake/sleep button

Before going any further please, make sure to hold the switch for longer than you might think you have to. If it still won't fire up, read on.

Dead Battery

If your tablet still won't turn on, plug it into the power adapter and electric socket. Wait a minute or two to see if the machine indicates that it is receiving a charge, and then try again to press and hold the wake/sleep button for longer than seems needed. If this does nothing it is most likely that the power adapter or the battery may be defective.

Faulty Power Adapter

If your tablet does not power on even when directly plugged into a power outlet, the power adapter may no longer be functioning. This is cheaper to check first rather than starting with the battery since the power adapter is cheaper and can be returned if the problem persists.

Defective Battery

If your tablet does not power on even when plugged directly into a power outlet, and you've already tried to replace the power adapter, the battery may be defective and needs to be replaced. The repair guide for that process, and the part you'll need to purchase can be found here.

Bad Charging Port

If it can be determined that the battery and power cable are in working order, it may be the port itself at fault. The guide for the replacement policy and the part you will need can be found here.

Bad motherboard

If all of the above solutions do not solve the problem, the issue is most likely on the motherboard itself. Check all chip seating and connections, and if the machine will still not turn on, the motherboard must be replaced. The repair guide for the process and the part you need can be found here.

Close Apps/Programs Not Currently In Use

Apps are very self important, and almost never close themselves when you hit the home or back key. Typically, you have to force them to shut down. To do so simply access the Task Manager by pressing and holding the home key. This page displays your open apps, and the bottom left icon opens the Task Manager where you can close any apps you are not currently using.

Factory Reset

Sometimes the operating system can become corrupt or loaded with too many background programs and the tablet should be returned to factory settings. This can be done by powering off the tablet by pressing and holding the wake/sleep button pressing and holding the volume up, wake/sleep and home buttons together until the screen illuminates.

Tablet Doesn't Produce Sound

The Tablet's build in speakers, or headphones/external speakers won't make a sound

Faulty headphones / external speakers

If the tablet's built in speakers work, but you don't get audio through attached speakers the attached items may be defective. This is the easiest to test for, as you simply need to try another set of speakers or headphones. If the problem persists, it maybe the audio jack itself.

This can be done by powering off the tablet by pressing and holding the wake/sleep button pressing and holding the volume up, wake/sleep and home buttons together until the screen illuminates.

Make sure that all of the subheadings are phrased as possible causes for the problem. "Dead Battery" is a good example of a cause for a problem, but "Press and hold the wake/sleep button" is not.

Dan, these are not helpful comments. The headings and captitalization are just fine.

Consider combining all your comments into one comment, maybe separated by a blank line. This saves valuable bandwidth on the Internets.
