The WiFi Does Not Connect

The Wifi does not connect or routinely disconnects, or there is a notification saying the WiFi card is not recognized.

The WiFi Source Is Not in Range or Has a Weak Signal

Move closer to the WiFi router you are trying to connect to, or restart the router. Check to see if your laptop connects to a different WiFi router. If the problem persists with any WiFi source, the problem may be with your laptop.

The WiFi Card Is in Power Saving Mode

The Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB’s WiFi card has a power saving mode to preserve battery life. However, this can cause the card to routinely disconnect from WiFi sources. For Windows OS, follow these steps to turn off the power saving mode:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power and Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Expand “Wireless Adapter Settings” > Expand “Power Saving Mode”
  2. Change both settings to “Maximum Performance”

The WiFi Card Has a Low Roaming Setting

A low roaming setting will make it harder for your laptop to find a strong connection. To increase the roaming aggressiveness of the WiFi card, follow these steps:

  1. Search “Device Manager” in the Control Panel
  2. Find the Intel 9260 WiFi card under “Network adapters”
  3. Click on the “Advanced” tab
  4. Find the “Roaming Aggressiveness” setting and set it to 3 or above

The WiFi Card Driver Needs to Be Updated

Perform a software update on your WiFi card by following these steps:

  1. Go to https://support.lenovo.com/ and search “Yoga C930-13IKB”
  2. Go to “Drivers and Software”
  3. Find the link to download the Intel WLAN driver by either:
  4. Running the “Automatic Driver Update” OR
  5. Finding “Networking: Wireless LAN” under “Manual Update”

The WiFi Card Is Faulty

If WiFi issues persist, the physical WiFi card may be broken. Follow this guide to replace the WiFi card.

Note: The Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB is only compatible with the Intel 9260 WiFi card. Do not install a different WiFi card.

The Laptop Fails to Charge

The battery dies quickly, there is a charging error notification, or the laptop fails to charge.

The BIOS and/or Windows Drivers Require Updating

Perform updates on BIOS and other applicable driver revisions:

  1. Go to https://support.lenovo.com/ and search “Yoga C930-13IKB”
  2. Go to “Drivers and Software”
  3. Download and update all pending BIOS and driver revisions

Perform updates on Windows OS:

  1. Go to Windows settings
  2. Set performance settings on High
  3. Download all pending Windows updates

There Are Interfering Battery Applications

The Microsoft AC Adapter or Microsoft Control Method Battery could have complications. To remove these applications, follow these steps:

  1. Go to battery settings
  2. Uninstall both “Microsoft AC Adapter” and “Microsoft Control Method Battery”
  3. Reboot your laptop, if necessary

The Laptop Charger Is Failing

The accompanying Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB charger may be not plugged in correctly. Double check charger cable and outlet.

If the charger does not work when plugged into a functioning outlet, the charger may be incompatible or broken. Follow this link to find the compatible charger for the Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB.

The Laptop Has Faulty Battery Firmware

In the case of remaining charging failure, replace the battery with this guide.

The Touch Pad is Unresponsive

The touch pad is twitchy, inaccurate, or unresponsive.

There Are Interfering External Applications

Check for mice connected via Bluetooth following these steps:

  1. Go to Device Manager (Windows key + X)
  2. Expand the “Mice and other pointing devices” tab
  3. Right click on the touch pad driver
  4. Check touch pad status in “Driver Details”

The Touch Pad Settings Are Poor

The touch pad settings may make touch pad use unnatural or twitchy. Adjust the touch pad settings following these steps:

  1. Go to Window settings
  2. Click touch pad settings
  3. Adjust the touch pad speed and other settings

The Touch Pad Is Faulty

In the case of continuing issues, replace your touch pad using this guide.

The Audio Doesn’t Work

There are scratchy sounds or no sounds coming from the speakers when audio is played.

There Are OS or Software Configurations Issues

Run the ‘Playing Audio’ troubleshooter by following these steps:

  1. Type “Control Panel” in the start menu
  2. Click the ‘Troubleshooting’ icon then ‘Troubleshoot computer problems'
  3. Go to ‘Hardware and Sound’ then ‘Playing Audio’
  4. Hit ‘next’ to start the troubleshooter

The Audio Device Was Disabled

Check the ‘Volume Mixer’ for disabled sounds following these steps:

  1. Click the Sound icon in the Task bar
  2. Select ‘Open Volume Mixer’
  3. Check that there are no sounds disabled

The Audio Driver Is Faulty

Update the audio driver following these steps:

  1. Hit the Windows icon and select ‘Run’
  2. Type devmgmt.msc in the run box, opening up the device manager
  3. Uninstall the sound driver in the Device Manager setting and restart computer
  4. Go back to the Device Manager setting and update the sound driver
  5. Select ‘Search automatically for updated driver software’ and restart computer

The Default Sound Format Needs to Be Changed

Change the default sound format by following these steps:

  1. Click the Sound icon in the Taskbar and select ‘Sounds’
  2. Under ‘Playback’ select ‘properties’
  3. Under ‘Advanced’ select ‘Default Format’
  4. Choose ‘24 bit, 44100Hz ‘ or ‘24 bit, 192000 Hz’
  5. Hit ‘OK’ and save changes

The Speakers Are Faulty

In the case of remaining audio failure, replace your speakers using this guide.

The Laptop Won’t Turn On

The laptop is unresponsive to pressing the power button.

The Battery Needs to Be Charged

The battery may be dead. Plug the charging cord into the laptop and wait a few minutes. Try to turn the laptop on again.

The Brightness Is Turned All the Way Down

It may be impossible to see the screen if the brightness is low. Turn up the brightness by pressing: (FN + Home key)

The Battery Is Faulty

If the laptop does not turn on even when plugged in, the battery may need to be replaced. Replace the battery in your laptop using this guide.
