Battery not charging

The battery charge indicator on the taskbar shows 0% and/or does not properly charge to 100%. The battery is non-operational, does not charge or relay current to the device. Battery leaking and/or a colorless (white) deposits are found around the battery.

Battery depleted

The ability to carry charge in a battery diminishes over time naturally. You may be experiencing failure to properly charge and undercharging.

To troubleshoot, if a replacement battery is needed:

  1. Remove the power adaptor and battery.
  2. Then, press and continue holding the power button for a minimum of 40 seconds.
  3. Connect only the power adaptor. Do not connect battery.
  4. Power the laptop On, login to windows, and completely shutdown the laptop.
  5. Now, reinstall the battery and reconnect the power adaptor. Power on the laptop again.
  6. Do not attempt to repair battery.

Damaged due to electric surge

In other instances, the ability to carry charge is damaged due to improper electric adaptations. Sometimes, from our electric supply, a sudden high voltage current is transmitted to the connected device. This damages the battery’s capacity to continue carrying charges.

To troubleshoot, if the battery is destroyed:

  1. Remove the power adaptor and battery.
  2. Then, press and continue holding the power button for a minimum of 40 seconds.
  3. Connect only the power adaptor. Do not connect battery
  4. Power the laptop On, login to windows.

If you device functions, your device has not been destroyed due to the electric surge. Only the battery needs replacing. You may notice a burning smell when the electric surge occurred.

Do not attempt to repair the battery.

Water Damage

Water also causes corrosion of a battery. If the battery is exposed to the element of water, the battery will fail to properly perform the chemical reaction necessary to store and discharge electric charge.

  1. Remove the power adaptor and battery.
  2. Then, press and continue holding the power button for a minimum of 40 seconds.
  3. Connect only the power adaptor. Do not connect battery.
  4. Power the laptop On, login to windows, and completely shutdown the laptop.
  5. Visually inspect the battery and adapter (transistor) for evidence of corrosion inside the casing.

Do not attempt to eat the white lead sulfate (poison) or repair the battery.

USB module nonoperational

When media device is connected to serial port, it does not autorun software/driver. Difficulty or resistance connecting/plugging external media drive [Universal Serial Bus “USB”] in the serial port.

Incorrect software

A computer program is necessary to translate data from your external drive into media on your computer. This is referred to a driver.

To troubleshoot, the problem may be solved by these solutions:

  1. Restart the device, so the start-up will attempt at reloading your present driver.
  2. While operating on Windows, go to the Control Panel. Select devices and printers, and start your device manager. Hence, see if you discover your USB media device. Do not hesitate to try different connections and ports along with a different media drive.

Your USB ports are non-operational. If you choose not to ignore the malfunction you could install a replacement USB port.

Dusty or destroyed serial

In many instances, the serial may be destroyed due to excessive wear or harsh conditions. The serial port comprises of fine conducting materials (usually fine bands of metals) which transmit current to and from your external media device.

To troubleshoot, if your serial port is destroyed:

  1. Restart the device, so the start-up registry will autorun the necessary software.
  2. Connect a different media device to another external serial port.
  3. Type msconfig in the search bar [run msconfig].
  4. (a) try to discover your external media device connected.

Your USB ports are non-operational. If you choose not to ignore the malfunction you could install a replacement USB port.

Wireless internet not connecting

Unable to access internet. Modem not displaying power supply light or internet connection light.

Network

In many circumstances, we may not be able to connect to the internet. This may be due to a temporary network problem from the internet service provider “ISP”.

To troubleshoot, try these solutions:

  1. Wireless adaptor should be switched in enabled relay.
  2. Disconnecting power to a modem and the wireless router will cause the devices to restart and perhaps connect with the network.

Our network and sharing center may show we are connected to the ISP network. However, due to maintenance issues the ISP may not be connected to the broadband Access Service Provider.

Component or modem not powered on

We should be sure to check all the external components used in connecting to the internet. If one component is non-operational, then, we will not be able to access into the world wide web.

To troubleshoot, try this procedure:

  1. Wireless adaptor should be switched in enable relay.
  2. Disconnect from power supply and then reconnect. Wait for all lights to stop flashing from the startup procedure of the modem.
  3. Try connecting an ethernet cable from the modem to the device.

If your operating system and software are compatible, it may be so you require a new IP address. Contact your ISP for help with generating a new Internet Protocol Number. If it is concluded there is a hardware issue, consider replacing the Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) chip.

Keyboard not typing

Keyboard does not type. Keyboard does not type and/or types on its own.

Incompatible software

An error, flaw, or failure [software bug] when updated to new operating system software may result in the keyboard not registering inputted data. Many times our new operating software may be incompatible with existing drivers. In rare circumstances, the driver gets corrupted and the keyboard may appear to fail.

To troubleshoot:

  1. Restart your device, preferably by other means than the power on and off switch.
  2. Compatibility and Software
  3. Download the driver and overwrite the existing driver.
  4. Go back to a operating mode where the driver was compatible until a new driver is released.

If the aforementioned does not render resolve your trouble: Consider replacing the faulty non-operational keyboard.

Water damage

The easiest way the keyboard panel may become damage is due to harsh conditions. Water damage will cause small circuits to improperly function.

  1. Restart your device, preferably by other means than the power on and off switch.
  2. Check for evidence and/or cause of exposure to liquid and/or dirt.

The keyboard is also sensitive component. Exposure to water damages the circuits that enable to input data & information to the device. You may want to replace the keyboard panel or utilize an external keyboard panel.

Cursor not present or not moving.

The pointer is stationary.

Touchpad Disabled

The mouse feature is a very convenient feature. Sometimes, this component does not appear not to function properly. The solution may be found by settings or a simple restart.

To troubleshoot:

  1. Re-enable your touchpad
  2. a. Press Fn and F6 or F7 key simultaneously. See if you are capable of scrolling.

Step is a shortcut to enable your pointer in settings. If re-configuring your settings and enabling your touchpad to communicate with the device does not resolve your trouble. You may need replace touchpad or media drive may be in operational.
