Hey, honestly it is just up to practice. When I first started repairing these units I would get so angry at the fact that I would basically throw money away breaking the screen instead of being able to re-use them, however after some time, it get pretty easy. I can even do it watching TV :). I would highly recommend buying the metal spugder tools that they sell here on iFixit. It comes in a set of 4 awesome tools. Start by the volume rocker and work your way down to the home button. Btw, how do you start?
Per saperne di piùA good place to start is to replace the LCD. That should resolve your back light problems. Before you purchase one, try to restore the unit, just for good measure.
Per saperne di piùHey, this is a bit late, but if you take a look at step 6 from the tear down guide: Smontaggio iPod Touch 2a Generazione You can see that there a small metal "latches" by every screw. Sometimes these bend inward making it very difficult to remove the screen. Using a spugder try to push this away from the screen and towards the edge of the iPod as if you where try to expand the casing, then try to lift up the screen. I always start near the volume rocker.
Per saperne di piùHey, I've actually wondered this myself, but never actually took the time to trace it, I believe it is simply the connection point. In any case, the power for the back light is not supplied there, it comes from the connecter. Make sure the LCD connector is completely pushed in, it should be flush with the board and you should hear a small audible click. Try the old LCD, if there is no back light on the one, the connector may have received damage.
Per saperne di piùHey, could you provide more information? What was originally wrong with the unit? You may just have a unit with a dead motherboard, in this case the only thing you could do is replace the logic board.
Per saperne di piùYea, I've seen both the "dome" contact on the assembly waste down and the small metal piece on the back of the actual button un-glue, this causes the button to no longer provide adequate feedback. Once you open it, you'll have a better idea of what I mean, just remove the small metal circle behind the button and re-glue it. You can also purchase a new volume rocker/sleep button assembly and you should be good as new.
Per saperne di piùwell, not a wire per say, but skippy has the right idea. maybe there's a short somewhere along the board. when you have free time you should open up the device, disconnect the battery and give the unit an iso-propyl alcohol bath (use a soft bristle brush) Rinse with iso when finished and let dry thoroughly, then when done let it dry some more :) re-solder and let me know your results.
Per saperne di piùHave you opened this iTouch for repair? It seems like there could be a short. It it was jailbroken you may have altered the sbs settings Back up and restore. If still under warrenty you can get it fixed for free
