See the answer below.

The phone will have to be opened, either by you or a professional repairer.

It isn't going to fix itself. If anything the problems may get worse the longer that you leave it.

Hi @spiderjocky11 ,

The liquid contact indicators turning red means that water has entered the phone.

It may be that the screen will have to be replaced but you will know this better once you are satisfied that it has been cleaned properly first.

The impurities in the water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone's operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away.

Rice does not fix the problems caused by corrosion Rice is for dinner, not repair

First do not try to charge or to turn on your phone and then remove the battery as soon as possible from the phone to minimize any further damage.

Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the phone and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) to remove all traces of corrosion and water. If possible do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is only 70% IPA or less, can contain additives and is not as effective. If you do have to use it check the label to verify the amount of IPA. The higher the percentage of IPA the better

Here is a link that describes the process. Electronics Water Damage

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted PCBs be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board. Remove the shields that may be covering some components as the water may have got in there also. The ends of any flex cables and their connectors need to be cleaned as well.

Hopefully after you have done all this the phone might possibly work correctly again.

Here is a link to a teardown video that may help

If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.

I took it apart and can't see any damage at all. Also it was working for a few hours after I left it in rice and then after that I started using it and then the left hand side of touch didn't work and then it started ghosting touching on its own

My answer still stands.

You couldn't see any damage but that doesn't mean that the damage hadn't already occurred and that it is just not visible.

Electronic components can fail if the water has provided a path for the current which wasn't supposed to be there normally.

At best what you can do now then is to replace the screen and check.

Ok thanks. I ordered some isopropyl alcohol. Does the a71 still have the issue with the fingerprint not registering when screen replacement

I don't know.

As far as I still know it is Android 10 checking the screen and fingerprint sensor serial numbers to see that they're OEM so unless you roll back to Android 9 somehow (the check is not done in Android 9) and prevent future updates then it seems only Samsung can fix the problem
