Why is the cocking mechanism not locking?
When I pull back the cocking mechanism it is not locking which in turn prevents me from shooting the Nerf crossbow.

The spring that allows the cocking mechanism to lock may be broken. If this is the case you will not be able to pull the mechanism back all of the way.
