Released in 2016, the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is part of Samsung's continuing smartwatch line up.

The smartwatch has a 1.3 inch circular display with a bezel ring on the outside. You can use the bezel ring for navigation or simply use the interactive touch screen. With an IP68 protection rating and several days of charge, the smartwatch is geared towards adventure. It also has Bluetooth capabilities, advanced GPS features, and allows users to pair it with Samsung Mobile Pay.

The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier was replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch in August of 2018.

The watch was released in two models: the Frontier and the Frontier (LTE). The difference between the two models is that the Frontier (LTE) can support an independent cellular service.

These can be identified by checking the model number on the back of the watch. SM-R760 refers to the Frontier, while SM-R765 refers to the Frontier (LTE). A third variant, known as the Gear S3 Classic (LTE) (Model SM-R770), is also available. There are slight differences in aesthetics and assembly. Externally, the only differences are the Frontier's black casing and rubber strap versus the Classic's silver casing and black leather strap.
