Which part is needed to fix screen in current state?

Hey all,

My Switch has been broken for quite some time as the front screen is completely dead. Luckily until now, it’s been totally fine in dock mode. Sadly, the right railing has given in and the connector is no longer attached, which has somehow caused my right controller to desync. As such I’m currently left without the ability to press any buttons other than move around the homescreen, and can’t wirelessly sync my controllers either.

I was wondering which would be the easier fix, and what parts I’d need to get started on it? It’s an OLED switch, serial number XTJ10948587174

This is silly, but try connecting your right joycon backwards on the other side. So take the right joycon and turn it around so the buttons are facing the back, and slide it into the left side rail. And do the same with the left joycon on the right side.

If you do this, your right joycon connects (on the left side) and your left fails to connect, then you know it is the right side rail. If the left connects on the right side but the right doesn't connect on the left, then you know it is the joycon that failed the connection.

I have an old switch where the rail on the right side failed like over a year ago and I swap both of the joycons onto the left side every other time to get around this because I'm too lazy to fix it. 😅

I appreciate the help! Sadly it’s definitely the rail, as I’ve taken it off gently to find the connector poking out of the corner of the switch and the little board completely disconnected from both the rail and the wire, so it seems I’d need to totally replace the rail.

I’ve tried your trick of putting the right side joycon on the left rail but it doesn’t seem to do anything for me sadly, but thank you very much for trying to hep mate!

Good luck with the repair! If you need any guide or part, please let us know!

@hecetewest Ah. I see now that I missed this was a switch OLED. Perhaps that trick only works on the original models. Sorry it couldn't be of more help to you.
