The Keyboard backlight is what if you are talking about , then you should try to update your keyboard driver. Coz u never did any hardware changes apart from HDD replacement . Updateing will solve your issue hopefully.

Hi @magicjet_

I’m assuming that you removed the battery from the laptop before dis-assembling it to remove the HDD ;-)

With the laptop turned on try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check if you can detect an image at all.

If you don't see an image then you may have to check your work to make sure that the LVDS cable is still connected OK on the motherboard as you may have disturbed it when removing the keyboard or the palmrest assembly when accessing the HDD.

If you do see an image it still might be a loose LVDS cable as I think that the backlight power is also fed through the same cable or if it is OK and you didn’t remove the battery you may have caused a problem with the backlight power supply on the motherboard by accidentally touching something that you shouldn’t have.

Here’s a link to the service manual for the laptop. Scroll to p.91 to view images of the location of the LVDS cable connection which may be of some help.

When I was putting the hard drive there was a bracket and I didn’t know I had to take it out and it when I but in the hard drive it was at a angle and it scratched the logic board to copper would that affect it because it works fine with a external monitor

Hi @magicjet_ ,

It might have if you're not seeing anything at all on the laptop's display with a torch.

Post some close up pictures of the "scratch" and also one longer view shot showing where it is on the motherboard.

Here's how to do this.

Your keyboard power-ribbon cable is most likely not inserted properly, if at all. I’d bet it is not inserted and locked down all the way. If you’re not sure what I mean, it is the small, 1/4 inch wide ribbon cable alongside the main keyboard ribbon cable and MUST be in place FULLY, straight and locked down with the locking flap on the motherboard connector. Need any more info/instructions, have fixit message me and I’ll do my best to help.
