Hello Guys,
I have a Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, Model: SGP771. After changing a cracked screen, with a brand new original Sony screen, the screen work but it doesn't light up. I mean it shows information and the touch sensor works, but the LCD light is not working.
I tried two different screens, and i get the same problem.
Any idea or suggestion with it?

I realize this answer might be a bit late but just wanted to give my solution to the problem. So after searching the web everywher for answers i found out that the problem was probably a blown backlight fuse, but i had no idea if it was supposed to be on the motherboard or on the screen. So i tried searching everywhere on the internet for a picture of the fuse with no luck so i just gave up. Luckily though after a while i went here to see if there was any new answers and I saw that one guy mentioned it was near the screen connection. Now ive finnaly found it i just put a drop of solder on it with my solder Pen so that the two ends gets connected and it actually worked. The best way though is probably to get someone with solder experience to change the fuse because i can imagine that youll easily break something else if you mess upp. Anyway here is the picture of the fuse located on the MOTHERBOARD right above the screen connector. As you can see its really small and is marked with a “v” thats barely visible with your eye:

Do you have any idea of the specification of the fuse i should buy for the replacement?
I too had this problem, after the screen replacement, the backlight would not come on, although everything else was working.
Took the advice here, I disconnected battery, did a continuity test on the tiny SMC fuse with the "v" on it, it showed open; then I bridged it with a solder blob, SMC came off during that process, but solder still bridged it, reconnected the battery, went through the hard start procedure and the backlight came on, much to my surprise.
Two suggestions, the traces and SMC are very tiny, so use a small solder tip. If using a temp controlled iron, don't crank it up to 400C, go to about 240C, or near there so that the solder doesn't flow like mercury, but more like a sticky paste.

I MADE IT!
I dropped a solder without removing the fuse, and the back light recovered.
I bought the LCD via aliexpress in about $150.
I'll share my pictures of my repairment and the new display showing the recharge of the battery.

No problem! I didn't see your question until now but I don't know where to find the fuse so I wouldn't have been to any help either way. I'm happy you managed to get it working again!

Hello all, backlight not working on a sony xperia xz2 h8216. i red about the backlight fuse repair, but can not track down the replacement parts nor the par number. any help please? anyone who can fix this in italy? thanks in advance

I did have the same problem and “fix” the fuse. But now when I start my tablet the LCD blink just for trip that I can see Sony logo and thats all. After that, backlight doesnt work. Any idea?

same is the issue with my z4 tab. changed the screen, it just blinks shows sony logo and backlight is off. after this i even installed old scree but now even the old screen shows same issue

Did you disconnect the battery before removing any screen connectors?

Did the old screen worm before you did this repair? Also is there any missing components or damage near the screen connectors.

the old screen worked, the lcd light worked, but after changing it, even the old screen is not lighting up anymore. the connectors and pins look ok, and the cable as well is transmiting since i checked.
