sharpshooter6135,

If you are having problems with your washing machine’s lid switch, see the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Doesn’t Stop Spinning When Lid Is Opened problem page for possible causes and solutions.

Remember you are working with electricity around water and can be dangerous. It is not recommended to join wires together, use a jumper wire for testing purposes only and change the switch. Do not jump anything to the green wire on the plug. Links below will show how to test switch and explain using a jumper wire for testing. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Doesn't solve problem AT ALL! with my older washer I add clothes soap Oxiclean and water let it agitate then it sits there SOAKING! I come along and close lid..cycle finishes. Also useful when dying fabric etc. Had to replace the switch and the new switch has the locking mechanism built in it even though it isn't original. I am fit to be tied and !#^&@@ off!! The way it was before was perfect!! I hate the new crappy appliances they are making..I keep buying older models for this very reason..or Speed Queen!!

I used a 3” dual action automatic OTF knife, jammed it down on about a 35° angle to bypass the locking mechanism toggle/trigger. I would think a small butter/pairing kitchen knife would work as well. Quickest way I could come up with to diagnose percieved problems with my rinse cycle. If I didn't recieve this washer free from an in-law who literally said “get it tf outta here", I'd throw this thing off a bridge. It has a spin cycle so violent it makes the machine almost unbalanceable. I would never buy a machine that locks the user out, or like my 100 series does, lock you out and force you to wait 5-10secs before giving you access to your laundry. I now know why my father in-law devilishly laughed at me offering him money for this brand new machine and said “oh no bud she's allll yours, ennn-joy”…
