There is a small block of horizontal lines which follow the cursor around. They are about 5/8" high and 1/2" wide. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

We really need to know your exact machine. There are repair programs on certain 15" MBP which address this issue. Always best to get it fixed for free when possible. This does sound like a GPU issue.

Are you able to add a picture of this? Could be an LCD or LCD cable issue (usually these will appear as pink lines)
