Try to reprogram the key and see if that works.
# Get in the car and and ensure that all the doors are completely shut and then insert the key into the ignition keylock.
# Turn the key from off to on in the ignition repeatedly until you hear the door locks cycle. You should end the process with the key turned to the on position. ''The on position is ***not*** the engine start position,'' but where the key is when the instrument panel lights/gauges etc turn on
# Then try pressing the lock or unlock button on the key fob. If the doors respond by locking or unlocking (depending on which button you pressed), the key fob has been successfully reprogrammed.
# Turn the key back to the off position in the ignition. The door locks should cycle again, indicating the end of the programming sequence.
