Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7210 Troubleshooting

This is a guide for common problems with the Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7210. It will help you figure out the most likely reason for your issue.

Unable To Type

Some or all of the keys do not respond when pressed, or key is typing on its own

Computer Is Frozen

If your computer keys suddenly stop working, try holding down the power button for 20 seconds. Check lights to ensure computer is turned off; no lights should appear on the laptop. Press power button and wait for device to fully turn on.

Jammed Keys

For those experiencing difficulties with one key that routinely would not type, or requires excessive force, there may be debris under the key which needs to be removed. Broken Keyboard

For computers which routinely have dysfunctional keys, cannot type at all, or have experienced failure after any liquid spills, the keyboard will need to be replaced, see replacement guide [collegamento guida non valido].

Sticky Keys Is Turned On

Go to your settings and search for “sticky keys”. There will be a setting option to turn “sticky keys” off. This will stop keys from typing constantly even if they are not pressed.

Cracked/Black Screen

Screen is distorted or off even when the computer is on

Brightness Is Set Too Low

Find the display brightness button on the keyboard (often denoted with a sun with longer rays) and press multiple times to see if there is any response.

Backlight Is Broken

Shine a direct light to the screen using a flashlight and search for an image. If you are able to see an image, this means the screen is still working. The cause might be a broken backlight use the guide [collegamento guida non valido] to fix.

Computer Is Frozen

Turn off laptop by pressing and holding down the start button for 60 seconds. Unplug the laptop and plug the laptop back in. Remove the battery from the laptop and replace the battery.

Screen Is Broken

Buy a replacement laptop screen and use the replacement guide [collegamento guida non valido] to replace screen.

Computer Won’t Turn On

Pressing the power button repeatedly yields no response

Computer Not Charged Or Plugged In

Hold the power button for 20 seconds. Press the power button to turn on laptop as usual. If problem still persists, try disconnecting your laptop from power source and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 20 seconds, then reinstall the battery and reconnect the power cord to your laptop. Press the power button to turn on.

Faulty or Broken Power Cord

Plug in power cord. Check if charging light is on. If not, try replacing your power cord.

Faulty or Broken Battery

Make sure power cord is plugged in and charging indicator light is on. If your laptop only turns on when the power cord is plugged in, try getting a battery replacement and use the replacement guide [collegamento guida non valido] to replace the battery.

Slow Computer Speed

Computer screen is choppy and takes a long time to respond to clicks and keystrokes

Fan is dirty

Clogged or dirty fans can cause the computer to overheat. Overheated computers will run slowly. Locate the fan slits by finding the part of the laptop which blows warm or hot air. Using a can of pressurized air, blow the pressurized air onto the fan slits. This will dislodge the dirt.

Random Access Memory (RAM) Is Faulty or Lacking

If computer is running slowly, crashes often, crashes often while browsing the web, or will not boot may suggest that you lack RAM or are using faulty RAM. See replacement guide [collegamento guida non valido] to replace your RAM.

Motherboard Is Faulty

Constant computer freezes, frequent blue screens of death, or unexpected shutdowns are all signs of potentially failing motherboards.
