Camera will not turn on

Holding the power button does not start the camera.

Incorrect battery placement

Ensure the terminals of the battery are touching the contact points in the battery compartment. If the terminal in on the battery do not make contact with the terminals in the battery compartment, the camera will not receive any power.

Drained or bad battery

If correct placement of the battery does not lead to a successful power up of the camera, there is a possibility that the battery no longer holds charge or the battery terminals are damaged. Remove and charge battery. If the battery does not retain a charge, you will need a new battery.

Malfunctioning power button

If neither the correctly placement of the battery nor a new battery lead to a power up, the power button may be malfunctioning. Refer to Installing the power/shutter button guide in order to access the power button. Ensure that the buttons are installed correctly. If there are any damaged parts, replacements will be necessary.

Broken or unresponsive screen

When the camera is turned on, the LCD screen does not show any output.

Lose screen connections

If the LCD screen is no longer responsive or does not display an image, it is possible that the screen connections are loose. Refer to the Installing the LCD screen guide in order to access the screen and the connections. Inspect the connections and determine if a new screen is needed.

Bad LCD screen

In case the screen itself is not functional, the screen needs to be replaced. Refer to the Installing the LCD screen guide in order to access the screen and the connections and install a new screen.

SD card not detected

The camera cannot detect the SD or the pictures are not being saved to SD card.

SD card inserted incorrectly

Incorrect placement of the SD card can result in the SD card not being detected by the camera. Consult the owner's manual or the camera diagram for correct SD card orientation

SD card is locked

Some SD cards will provide a lock switch on the SD card. Ensure that the lock switch on the SD card is in the unlocked position. The switch is generally located on either of the sides of the card.

Incompatible SD card

Not all cameras are compatible with all SD cards. Consult the owner's manual to check whether the camera can read a specific SD card.

Rear controls malfunctioning

The buttons on the rear control panel are either not working properly or unresponsive.

Rear control panel disconnected from the rear accessory board

The rear control board can be disconnected from the main logic board or the motherboard. Refer to installing rear accessory board and battery compartment guide in order to access the rear accessory board. Ensure that the ribbon cables are properly attached.

Bad rear control panel

It is possible that the rear control panel is no longer usable. In this case use the installing rear accessory board and battery compartment guide in order to replace the rear control panel.

Flash not working

Camera flash does not work regardless of the flash setting on the camera.

Flash assembly to motherboard connection loose

The flash assembly is connected to the the motherboard via a ribbon cable. If this connection is loose, the flash assembly will not receive power and thus the camera will not flash. Refer to Installing the Flash Assembly guide in order to access the ribbon cable.

Bad Flash assembly

It is possible that one or more components of the flash assembly have stopped working rendering your camera unable to use flash. In this case, the flash assembly must be replaced. Refer to Installing the Flash Assembly in order to replace the flash assembly.

Camera lens error

When turned on, the camera displays "Lens Error". Also, the camera lens will not extend or retract.

Dust particles in lens gears

Over time, dust particles can accumulate between the lens gears causing the gears to get stuck. Refer to Installing the Lens and Motor assembly guide in order to access the lens assembly. Manually turn the lens gears in order to clean them.

Bad lens motor

The lens motor can sometimes stop working. This can cause the camera lens to become unresponsive. In order to solve this problem a new lens motor must be installed. Refer to Installing the Lens and Motor assembly guide in order to access the lens motor assembly.
