If you can open the lid while the machine is running, the lid switch is bad a should be replaced.

I recently had this problem as well as it would not spin very fast. I replaced the spin/agitate switch under the bottom of the tub and now no noise, and it spins like a top. The part was under $25. Be sure to align the pin on the switch inside the hole of the transmission shifter or nothing will spin. Best of luck.

Many/most refrigerators don't automatically reset the water filter change light. I have to hold the button under it down for 3-5 seconds for it to reset.

If you have replaced the old filter with the new hold the button down under the reset filter statement for at least 5 seconds.
