While a safety pain is recommended, I had trouble finding one that is small enough - a sewing needle did the trick though. Definitely recommend getting the hole free first.

if you want to travel down this fearsome road: This picture is the back cover lying down. The side towards the lower right corner is where the ports are. The three yellow clips down the side are on the same side as the lock switch. Plastic tools might be doable, but I worked with the "steel knife" from the ifixit toolkit, and some plastic prying tools to keep things open.
