Thanks' - I just found two of my old Garmin StreetPilot c320 units in storage.
This will be the project of the evening watching movies.
New 18650 Battery with charging protection is ready.
Thankfully these are ten times easier than the TomTom just completed with new battery install.
Cheers
Granted the S4 can go through batteries, where twice they ended up swollen, but with smart rear plastic cover, no stress is transferred to the mother board and screen like what happened with the LG V20 steel 6 point locked on cover where it caused screen damage with permanent ghosting of previous screen image from pushing against the circuit board from so much pressure, it actually broke the rear cover loose & was undiscovered under protective case.
Random inspection removing case, rear cover & battery fell off.
I'll never give up my S4. He's my main device for tunes connected to Bose Soundlink Revolve speaker at the BBQ or major pontoon cruise events, or just out doing chores.
Thanks for a great tear down of this model,, Cheers.
I was hoping there was internal messaging option here, so Ill just
ask if you have time to do a screen
repair., all prepaid door to door.
I just moved or Id attempt mission
myself, and at the moment, have a stack of repair tools sitting in the cart here, to attack it with.
I still use the iPad some, but its so glitchy with phantom actions, and 2 days ago, my 09'MacBook Pro just died, so I'm down to my V20 just purchased 2 months ago.
If not able, we'll gladly use a reference.
Thanks
Phil, Mpls Mn.
I really have to ask:
What ever happened to Gorilla Glass?
Obviously the glass on iPad Air can simply shatter just playing RealRacing3
being throttle is right at edge of hole of home button,
and if heavy duty case has slightly off center access hole
to home button, this is in fact how mine shattered,
Cruising Le'mans circuit 243 mph requires full throttle,
seriously...
Hark, after 2 more tear downs,, he's just like new.
That darn flex strip is an issue.
"
I added a bit more padding under strip
to apply slightly more pressure to contacts
at the mating contacts on the board, and a bit
more deep scrub between those contacts, just in case
there was any trace of carbon tracking in narrow
space between them causing button drop out
of L2 / R2.
"
These contacts would be good to have a brass brush
handy to brighten them up..
"
Trimmed short tooh brush dipped in 5 drops of alcohol
was main tool scrubbing enrtire board surface.
then wiped dry . It was after this final scrub, that
it finally responded correct.
"
Thanks to those who showed great shots,
and great tips, before I dove into this project & adding padding I'm sure helped.
"
I took some decent photos of details,,
I'll have to solve how to get them on here,
being laptop just died.
Darn, I came so close to perfection.
Get it back together less back cover, fire up assassins creed rogue,
battle at sea already in progress where I was forced to quit, and I have all cannon action buttons back, except R1.
The problem for sure is the circuit strip, bump contacts from one to the other.
Scratching the contacts bright was the trick, and can't figure why 1 button refuses contact.
Alcohol scrub 1st round was not enough, so 3rd tear down is starring at me,, lol.
Nicely Done,
Images are Sharp and Good lighting.
Hopefully my torture proceeding with tear down
discovers why L2/R2 just flat out quit at the same time.
I'll update what solves it,,
Cheers.
Some wording needs to be edited,
(TEAR IT DOWN not disassemble. )
Is in fact the same thing.
Cut wire from board ,
vs rip it off , would work,, lol.
The rubber touch switch pads,,
carbon pile buttons,, just might
be the reason my L2/ R2 Quit today,
or dust got under flex circuit strip
that bump contacts the circuit board
seen in recent video, scrubbed clean
to make it functional.
Not looking forward to the torture,
but not able to shift gears on
Granturismo , or fire motars from
pirate ship of Assassins Creed Rogue,
is cramping my style a bit.
Cheers..
Was Hoping to Find this Process for JawBone Original -
I have two of these now maybe 5 yrs old - and both need new batteries.
But from what I see here - Looks like it'll be battle of Discovery -
Then figure out where to get the batteries.
In the meantime I received new Pelican 1050 case to keep them in
along with cords, etc. Perfect fit - bullet proof protection,
and playing music, just pop open the lid,, sounds great.
