This question was asked I seen you a couple years ago but I was having the same problem and I figured that I put in my answer. I found that if you do not have your phone charged to more than 30% battery and you are unable to do the reset on the phone. I'm assuming because the reset will be cancelled if the phone dies completely. Hope this helps!
