Proper use of ESD mat

purchased the portable charger ESD mat with the ground plug adapter and wanted to make sure I am using it right. Thank you in advance!

After I attach the black grounding wire to the ESD mat, I would take the black grounding wires clip off and plug it into the ground plug adapter and plug that into an outlet. Now with the blue wire connected to the wrist strap, I would take off that clip and plug it into one of the black grounding wires sockets, right? Also, does it matter which one of the black grounding wires socket I use to plug the blue wire into?

I attached a photo to see what I am talking about

After being around grounded workstations for decades now, I'd say you've got it down correctly. The black wire connects the mat to earth ground and the mat is conductive to dissipate any static charge. Plugging in the wrist strap grounds you so nothing you touch will get shocked, rendering you harmless with regard to static.

And nope, doesn't matter which plug you use; there are dual receptacles to allow two people to work at the same time.

Get an outlet checker to make sure the outlets ground is active. Often the outlet is replaced without the ground connected or the wiring doesn’t offer it.

Thank you both so much for your help with this. I am looking into getting an outlet checker. How do you know if the ground works or not using that tool?

Most 3 pin outlet checkers (example only) will tell you if the outlet is connected OK to the AC supply and ground.

Thank you! To clarify, just to be sure I understand. In the example you gave of the test results table, if it were to show correct on the light sequence would that mean it is grounded?
