I hotspot from my phone to my tablet and i also use the wifi at work.

My tab A keeps losing the wifi connection.

I dont have a problem with the tab 3 so i know it has to be the tab A

Hello. I went in to security (McAfee in this case), found wifi security, turned off 'block suspicious wifi networks ' , went back to wifi log in, connected (I stayed connected, woo hoo! ), went back to security and turned back on the wifi security and the wifi/internet connection was back. Happy days. Hope this helps somebody

My Samsung tab A will connect to BT stereo but after 5 mins will disconnect. Both devices still show to be connected. Will the Philips widget fix? Someone help.

Perfect answer from Ken G., because I have McAfee on my Galaxy Tab as well, so I did exactly what you posted and it is working just fine now (after using almost 2 gigs of mobile data, argh) Thanks for posting!!!!

I just purchased tab a and im having the same probs. i could not find security/ McAfee... is it possible i do not have this? if so what are some other options. i can only get the tab to connect by unplugging and plugging in my router, but then it disconnects after the first "sleep" no other device has this problem w my router

I have the same issue with the Bluetooth but the drop seems to be random but still shows connected and the only way to get it to work is turn off and back on. I have done the 6.0.1 update which is supposed to fix the issue but has not. I have also tried clearing the wifi settings (reset) which include Bluetooth which also clears the cache, same issue. Turned off Bluetooth scanning where it will look for other devices. The only thing I think I haven't done to date is reset to factory defaults. Any suggestions for a fix?

Hi,

Check your Keep WiFi on during sleep options. These allow you to specify when to disconnect from WiFi.

Go to Home > Apps > Settings > WiFi > more >Keep WiFi on during sleep. Hopefully you can stop it from disconnecting at all by choosing an option .

This is taken from the User guide if my directions don't make sense.

Hi,

Just verifying, that with the above you chose the "always" option?

Bit more info coming to light. Your Tab A is running Android OS V5.0 (Lollipop - do not know which iteration though. Go to Apps > Settings > About Device > Additional device info to find out) and I think that your Tab 3 is running Android V4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) I may be wrong about the Tab 3, however there are numerous complaints re WiFi problems with V5. All having various 'fixes'. There is no common link between any of them. They range from factory reset of Tab/phone to router reset to the one you have already tried above. Have you checked, via software update that you are using the latest version in case they have 'fixed' the wifi problem with an update. I am usually loathe to recommend an update (if available) as it can sometimes cause more problems than before you started. Not normally but it can. If you do have the option to update, I suggest that you backup your Tab first. Also, before you do it check the warranty status of your Tab. If it is still in the warranty period at least if something goes amiss with the update and your Tab becomes inoperable at least you have some recourse to get it repaired.

I'm on my 2nd one and it's doing exactly the same as the first. I have tried every single thing possible. I know what I'm doing yet this is still the only item on my network that constantly drops connection and stutters if you try to stream video. Mines going back for a refund.

same issues here... and ive tried all the fixes including disconnecting wifi, unplugging router, updating router software (not needed), updating marshmallow to 5.1.1, turning off bluetooth, pressing wps button on router and tab... what else can there be? so disappointing!

You should try getting the app 'WiFi Manager' from the play store. It will help. Hope this helps.

If your chosen solution didn't work, try this.

da

How do you get the app if you haven't got WiFi? Catch 22 here.

da

download it to your computer then load the app from your computer by connecting your tab through kies

da

If it works sometimes, I figured you could download it then. @jimfixer's idea works too. Just find a wifi manager .apk online and copy it to your tablet.

I had this issue and I found a fix for me. So I read so forums and found that some said that the Bluetooth could be interrupting the WiFi signal. I have a GHz and a 5 GHz connection on my router for my WiFi. I changed my connection to the GHz frequency on my router with my tablet. I always use a Bluetooth device because I have the Logitech Folio Bluetooth keyboard for the tablet. Since I change my WiFi connection to the GHz frequency I haven't had a drop since.

Had the poor wifi problem too. Changd this setting to Off and "poof", problem fixed: Settings -> More connection settings -> Nearby device scanning.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of interfering network settings

This worked!

Got a Galaxy Tab A at the weekend and had nothing but slow connection issues, especially with games like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale. The in game wifi warning was continuously flashing in the middle of the screen. YouTube videos would stutter and have trouble streaming.

Disabled Nearby device scanning and it's been fine since. Happy Days!

Worked great, thanks for sharing!

so far so good. Thanks for taking the time to post this. Very much appreciated

Hi @Jennifer Guerra,

It could be a loose WiFi antenna that is the cause of the problem, that is why it works close to the router and not further away.

Could you please verify the model number, screen size and year of your tablet (you said SM-T350 Tab A 10.1)? Measuring the screen diagonally should give you an approximate “size” of the screen if you wish to verify the screen size

According to what I have found out, a SM-T350 is a Tab A 8.0" tablet and not a Tab A 10.1” tablet.

Here’s a link to a SM-T350 antenna to show you what it looks like if you decide to open the tablet and check if it is connected properly.

Here are some links to other Galaxy Tab A models which show that the antenna is different in each model

SM-T580 is a Tab A 2016 10.1"

SM-T387 is a Tab A 2018 8.0”

SM-T510 is a Tab A 2019 10.1"

As you can see there are a lot of different Tab A models and the list goes on as there is also a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2018 (SM-T590) as well, but unfortunately I cannot find the WiFi antenna spare part for it.

My tablet is a SM-T350 TAB A 8.0, not sure what year, I think my problem is my modem is too far away. Thank you for your help.

da

Hi @dollymaer ,

Can you connect other devices e.g. mobile phone to your modem OK from the same place where the tablet can't connect successfully?

If so this indicates a problem with the tablet and not the distance from the modem.

If not then there may be some interference affecting the WiFi signal. Try changing the 'WiFi Channel" being used by the modem. Look up the modem's user manual on how to do this.

Most modem's default to CH1, 6 or 11 so everyone uses them, because most are unaware of this, which congests the channel frequency and if they are close by and have a strong signal can cause interference. Like a multi lane road where everyone is in the same lane. It slows things down and creates problems

Hi,

My galaxy tab T530 kept disconnecting.

I have tried everything but nothing worked, untilI changed wireless mode settings on my router.

From G/N MIX to B/G/N MIX, now everything works great!

Hope it helps. :)
