This guide is for anyone who has a purse with a flaw or two. Every situation is not going to be the same, but this guide is specific to the flaws I have with my purse involving a hole in the inside where the fabric is, and 2 zippers that came off. Usually when something is broken, it gets tossed in the trash, and a new item gets purchased. The idea is to keep the purse instead of throwing it away, by fixing it. Everyone wants security and privacy. With this guide I will be serving that purpose. Holes are common and can be fixed by sewing, and zippers can easily be reattached in a short amount of time.

  1. Locate the hole.
    • Locate the hole.

    • It’s important to analyze the area and make sure you have enough thread to cover the area; more is always better.

  2. Get a needle and thread ready to sew and make a knot at the end of the thread.
    • Get a needle and thread ready to sew and make a knot at the end of the thread.

    • Sew the hole together.

    • Notice that the fabric looks smooth and straight, this is from folding the frayed parts of the fabric inward to make the sewing process easier.

    • Make sure to end your sewing session with a secured knot, and cut off excess thread.

    • Use tweezers to grab one side of the opened coil.

    • Locate the detached zipper slider and turn it backwards.

    • This is done while still holding one side of the opened coil.

    • Place one side of the coil inside the zipper slider just a little using tweezers.

    • Grab the other side of the opened coils and place that side inside the zipper slider.

    • Make sure that each of the coils are placed evenly inside the slider.

    • Once both coils are even, using the zipper “Pull”, slowly slide the “Pull” closing it.

    • Repeat steps 4 to 9 for the other zipper wrapping up the coil process and being able to close both zippers.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
