Use a knife to uproot the old caulk that is sealed to the wall.

Peel off until all of the caulk is removed.

Remove all of the residual caulk that lies under the main slabs that were just pulled off.
Do this by angling the tip of the blade into the pivot and scraping up the caulk that lies there.

Before applying the new caulk, clean the area with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.
Let the area dry for about 10 minutes before applying the new caulk. This will allow the new caulk to seal properly.

Place the tip of the new bottle of caulk into the hole by the trigger.
Squeeze the trigger to cut.

Use something sharp to break the inner seal of the caulk.
The use of the pin on the caulking gun (as shown in the 2nd picture) is an alternative to using a blade.

Push the silver button and pull the spring back to fully open the chamber of the caulking gun.
Place the new bottle of caulk into the open chamber.

To apply the new caulk, press the trigger and drag the gun across the area being re-caulked.
When caulking the area, try to use the appropriate amount of caulk. More is better than less.

After applying the new caulk, dab a finger in water and smooth it out.
The more times you smooth it out, the more caulk you take off. This is why using more is better than using less.
It takes 24 hours for new caulking to dry. DO NOT get the surface wet during this time. It will ruin your work.
