When working with laptops it is important to make sure that there is no current running through the laptop and that is completely shut down before being opened up. The interior of a laptop is very delicate and therefore must be handled with great care to make sure nothing gets scratched inside that might impact the function of the laptop.

    • Power off the laptop and wait 20 minutes before beginning disassembly.

    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove thirteen 8.5 mm screws from the bottom of the laptop.

    • Using the same screwdriver, remove the two 3.2 mm screws and slide the DVD drive out of the laptop.

    • Remove the three 2.3 mm screws underneath the CD drive using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Pry off the back cover of the laptop using an opening tool.

    • Disconnect cable covering the hard drive by prying up on the clamp holding the cable.

    • Disconnect the cable from the motherboard.
