8BitDo Ultimate Wireless Repair

The 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth controller is a wireless gamepad developed by 8BitDo, a third party video game hardware company. Released on October 28, 2022, the Ultimate Wireless is designed to be a versatile premium controller compatible with the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. It was designed to feel similar to a classic controller and particular care was put into the D-pad and overall ergonomics. At launch, it was retailed for $69.99 and comes with a charging dock, which houses the 2.4G wireless receiver for PC connectivity.

Of the Ultimate lineup, the Ultimate Wireless stands out as it has the most features and widest compatibility. It features Hall-Effect sensing joysticks, which use magnets to track thumbstick positioning unlike the more common electrical resistance. This makes the hardware slightly more resistant to stick drifting over time. Very noticeably, it includes two Pro-level back paddle buttons for additional control without removing your thumbs from the joysticks. It also includes full button remapping and support for the 8BitDo software, allowing to assign macros. The controller connects via Bluetooth for the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and to Windows PC via the included 2.4G wireless dongle or a USB-C port for wired connection.

The 8BitDo Ultimate Wireless controller is a gamepad roughly the same size and shape as the Xbox Series S/X controller. However, it follows the Nintendo Switch button layout, meaning the X button is on top. On the rear, two back paddle buttons should be visible alongside a mode switch switching between Bluetooth and 2.4G. It is only available in Black, White, Red and Blue color variants. If bought from an official website, it should have been shipped with a charging dock, housing the 2.4G wireless receiver.
