If your Sony Walkman D-EJ360 is not producing any sound, follow this page for possible solutions.
Device Is Not Powered On
The CD player will not make a sound when powered off. In order to ensure the device is powered on, make sure that the device lights up when the play/pause button is pressed. If the lights do not light, press the power button and try again.
If pressing the power button fails, follow this troubleshooting guide on powering up the device.
The Headphone Jack Is Unplugged
The CD player will not make sound if the contacts of the headphone/AUX jack are partially or fully unplugged. Make sure the male connector is fully inserted into the CD player. Under normal conditions, there should be a tactile click, and there should be no visible metallic contact showing.
If the male connector does not seat, ensure there is no debris in the jack, and try to insert the connector again.
Volume Is Turned Down
The volume of the Sony Walkman D-EJ360 may be set very low, making the sound inaudible. At times you may need to turn the volume up button to raise the volume of the output.
- First, check to see that the connected device and the speaker are turned on and the volume button is turned up.
- If the connected device has certain instructions when connecting it to the Walkman, make sure that the functions are on the appropriate ones.
- If your device is connected to a Bluetooth device, try pairing the connected device with the Walkman once more. If your device is connected using a cord, unplug the cord and wait a couple of minutes before plugging it back into the Walkman.
- Remove any metallic objects away from the speaker if some are present. Check to see if the ducts at the bottom of the speakers may be covered by seals; if so, remove them
AVLS Is Turned Off
Some of the portable audio players are designed to limit the volume level with the Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS). Although it is recommended to leave the AVLS setting on to protect the hearing of the listener, maximum volume cannot be achieved until the AVLS feature is turned Off; which may be the reason as to why there are sound issues.
- If you cannot increase the volume, locate the Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS). The AVLS is preset to ON.
- It is recommended to leave the AVLS setting on to protect the hearing of the listener.
- If you want it on maximum volume you will need to turn the AVLS feature is turned OFF.
- To turn off the AVLS feature, hold down on the SOUND button until the AVLS indicator on the display disappears.
- You should now be able to raise the volume to the full max.
- If you want to turn ALVS back on, just hold the SOUND button again until AVLS reappears on the display.
If you are still having sound issues, you may need to replace the audio jack or replace the battery terminal.
