Laptop won't turn on
There is no response when attempts are made to start the device.
Dead battery
Plug in the power adapter to laptop and let charge for five to ten minutes. Open the laptop and attempt to press the on button. If the laptop still refuses to turn on, there may be a battery malfunction (see Battery will not charge for details).
Laptop has CPU issues
If plugging in the adapter does not fix the problem, this may possibly mean an issue with the CPU (central processing unit), which will need to be replaced.
Battery is Not Charging
Laptop only uses power adapter for power supply and cannot fall back on internal battery.
Charging Port Dirty or Damaged
If the Chromebook will not charge it may be due to dust or buildup in the charging port. Consider getting an air duster or gently blowing into the charging port to try and free any loose debris that may be preventing the adapter from properly connecting. If this does not work, test your battery and power adapter (see Power Adapter is Faulty and Battery is Faulty) and if both are functioning properly, consider replacing charging port.
Power Adapter is Faulty
Make sure the power cord is completely connected to the Chromebook. Check for the battery icon on the desktop to see if the battery has begun charging. Attempt to disconnect and reconnect the power adapter a couple times. If there is still no response, try to plug the power cord into a different outlet and see if it works. If there is still no response, consider buying a new power adapter.
Battery is Faulty
Take the battery out of your Chromebook, connect your power cord to the Chromebook and a power source without the battery. If your laptop turns on, the battery in your laptop is damaged. To resolve this issue, the battery will need to be replaced. Battery Replacment Guide
Laptop Shuts off When Unplugged
Laptop only functions when power adapter is plugged in.
Faulty Battery
If the laptop shuts off automatically when disconnected from the power source, check that the battery is charging when connected. The icon of the battery in the bottom right corner of the screen will display as charging. If battery is not charging, consider replacing the battery.
Faulty Battery Connector
If laptop is dropped or damaged, this could cause the battery connector inside your laptop to become damaged. The result of the problem is the battery not being held in place. If the battery is working properly (see Battery is Faulty to test), consider replacing the battery connector.
Key strokes not registering
Attempts to enter text using the keyboard is unsuccessful.
Keys are Dirty or Sticky
If you are trying to type but keys are not registering the key strokes, try cleaning the keyboard to remove any substances such as dirt, dust, or dried liquid. Once thoroughly cleaned, attempt to type on the keyboard. If the keys are still not registering, try pressing down in the exact center of the key.
Faulty Keyboard Sensory Pad is Not Responding to Keystroke
The keyboard sensor pad underneath the keys may have shifted so that keys will only register if hit dead center. To fix this, you will most likely need to replace the sensor pad under the keyboard. Keyboard replacment guide
Poor Screen Quality
Laptop display has limited or non-existent.
Faulty Brightness Keys
Check the brightness keys located at the center top of the keyboard. If the keys are not responding due to keys feeling unsteady or sticky, please see the section labeled "Key strokes not registering."
Cracked Screen
Visually inspect the screen for physical damage such as cracks and black spots. If there is damage, this will cause a problem in screen display on and underneath the screen. The screen in its entirety will have to be replaced. Screen Replacment Guide
Poor Pixel Quality
If the brightness keys on the top row are connected and functioning correctly then the problem lies with the screen. Damage to the screen will cause issues to the pixel functionality, which in turn corresponds to screen quality. Replacing the screen is recommended.

Had the laptop shut off on me while at near 45% battery. the charging light and everything would not light up and the chromebook would not power on. I took the chromebook apart, took the battery off for about 30 minutes. Reinstalled thinking I'll replace the motherboard. Just for giggles I plugged it back in, and the lights came back on.
Also when I hit the power button everything powered up just as before. Still at 45%. So I'm guessing by removing the battery I cleared up what ever power issue was keeping everything powered down. Time to backup the offline and downloads folder. ;)

My ASUS doesn't have a battery. It's Model C201P AzureWave. And it's asleep after recharging and pressing down power button. It's only 6 months old. I will try cleaning it. Any other suggestions?
