First and foremost, we need the last three letters and numbers of your serial number, to gauge exactly what's your machine.

Second: as far as I know about your model, and assuming your iMac never had Bluetooth beforehand, you need two parts I don't see listed here in iFixit, plus the screws.

The Bluetooh module itself, P/N 922-6876, five screws (P/N 922-6680) and the Bluetooth Antenna and Carriage (P/N 820-1532-A).

Oddly enough, the only site carrying those parts, lists the BT Module as surely compatible with the G4, and while lists the Antenna Assembly as a G5 part, it also describes the Antenna Assembly, in the BT Module page, as "necessary for the BT Module".

I can understand that: even if the BT module would still be recognized without an antenna, you'd probably get a reception so bad to make the part unusable.

Thus, if I were in your place, I'd get an external USB dongle: nowadays they're all compatible with OS X. If you want to keep the aestethic, go for the replacement.

Sadly, I wan't able to find any take apart guide, save for the service manual in the Darryl's Take Apart Guide, that's always a good starting point. I'd still advise you to stick with a less costly and hard to install external dongle, though.

Stranamente, l'unico sito che mi mostra quelle parti mi mostra il Modulo BT come sicuramente compatibile col tuo computer, mentre mi dichiara il Kit Antenna una componente del G5, ma precisa che il kit antenna è indispensabile per il corretto funzionamento del bluetooth.

Posso capire e dirti anche il perché: anche se il BT fosse riconosciuto, senza un'antenna avrebbe una ricezione così pessima da essere di fatto inutilizzabile.

Per tali ragioni, se fossi al tuo costo, prenderei un dongle esterno: al giorno d'oggi sono tutti compatibili con OS X. Se vuoi mantenere l'estetica, vai con la sostituzione con componenti Apple.

Mi spiace, ma non ho trovato delle guide, salvo il manuale di servizio e riparazione sull'ottima Darryl's Take Apart Guide, che è un buon punto di partenza. Fossi nei tuoi panni, comunque, acquisterei un dongle esterno.
