Display only shows white screen Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W690

Hi, when I boot up the camera, the screen is only white. I can hear the cybershot sound, and everything seems to work fine (ive tried navigating through the menus and taking pictures, and seems to all save to SD card fine). I've tried things read online like pressing down on the screen, and also re-inserted the LCD's ribbon cable (though I'm not sure if this one is the right cable to reseat). Still the same problem. Anyone have any experience or solution? Thanks!

Edit: also found out it successfully dims after waiting a while. It feels everything is fine except for no colour on the screen.

Hi, unfortunately I haven't got around to replacing the LCD, though I suspect that's the most likely issue (or the pcb, which would be more troublesome as jayeff said in the answers). If I do, I will get back, and likewise it would be helpful if you posted if you find any solution!

If the pictures are OK when downloaded from the SD card and viewed on a computer etc then there's either a problem with the LCD screen or the pcb board that interfaces between the mainboard and the LCD screen.

I can't find the service manual for the camera but given the cost of a replacement screen (examples only) it may be worthwhile considering replacing it and check if that resolves the problem.

If the screen is the problem then it will save a lot of time that may be spent looking for the problem elsewhere in the camera, that isn't there.
