Marantz SR 92 Receiver

I have crackle sound on my right channel on my Marantz SR 92 receiver(volume "zero"). I have sent it out 3 times for repair, none are able to resolve this problem. Some website indicated that to resolve this, I need 4 transistors, a Mosfet and a resistor. If I can get the circuit diagram on the component location and component types (no.), I may be able to do it myself. SOS. Thanks.

Vincent Chua, do you know which ones you are needing to replace? I do know that there are quite a few on the logic board.

I posted this question simply because I really do not know what is causing this crackle sound burst every few minutes on the right channel. I have no idea what are the components that can contribute to this problem. That is why I am seeking some expert to assist me. I also do not have any circuit, even if I have, I will still need to know where are these components located and the type no. I need to replace.

Vincent Chua, you might start out with the block diagram. Start with the main amp and work your way through the amps. here are a few diagrams. If this is what you need more off, let us know. See the images, rename to *.jpg and /or print them out. Hope this helps, good luck

Update

Vincent Chua, sorry about that. There are actually plenty of diagrams and schematics that you will need in order to troubleshoot your equipment. It might help, if you can narrow the search for the components that you believe to have failed. I would start with the main Amp

Thanks, I think you have tried. Unfortunately the attachment is just not clear enough. I can make up the component symbols but cannot see the component part number.

that's an easy fix, just email me. My email is in my profile.

Simon,

Yours is not such a big problem and I believe you need to spray some contact cleaner at the right spot which can resolve your problem. In most cases variable resistor has a life span and pending how often you use it. I am not sure how many deckers is your variable resistor, I think you can get one or equivalent off the shelf. I have repaired quite a few of our church amplifiers and only one (10k double decker) was not "repairable". I got an equivalent one and replaced it. If yours is coupled with remote motor driven, then it may be a bit difficult to install an equivalent. Best is to forego the motor driven type and go fully manual.

My crackle problem resolved after having the drawings from Oldturkey03 which was of great help - I have replaced 2SA1145 tarnsistor and my right channel is now back to normal. But now I got another problem, all of a sudden all my video outs are having distorted picture. Checked and found the -5V voltage regulator is faulty(no voltage). I replaced it and the -5v is restored but now I get no picture at all. Where could the problem be. Access to the video PCB is also very troublesome, I will only dismental it if necessary. This vintage AV is a sentimental item I hope if I can get it to work. Anyone can offer any help. Thanks.

i have experienced a similar problem on the RH channel of my Marantz MR250L amp/receiver - it appears to be caused by the rotating volume control - slight pressure in a vertical and/or horizontal direction to the spindle is a temporary remedy, but I would love a permanent fix for this old beauty… Does anyone know if this could be cured by air blowing (if caused by dust inside the control?) or if spare parts are still available anywhere?
