Random shutdown with screen blinking

Hi, I have my friend’s laptop (ASUS UX433FN, WIN10) with some weird and random shutdown.
At first I think overheating is the root cause, so I downloaded Prime95 stress test, which is could not reproduce the problem, the laptop still turned on with all its glory. No significant temperature issues what so ever (I installed HW monitor too) showed around 60-70 degree Celcius max.

And then I playing some youtube video, still, it won’t turned off.

But when I tried to create some photogrammetry (stitching drone photos), it turned off twice with these signs:

  1. First the screen turned black (but the system still on), and the power indicator blinking about once every seconds.
  2. Then the screen turned on again, but this time it seems like windows going into login screen, and the screen blinking twice (on-off-on-off)
  3. Then the system is turned off.
  4. I was able to turned it on again without issues, and repeat to use photogrammetry software again, and the problem still there.

PS: my friend experienced the exact symptoms before, but with random application running (not photogrammetry)

Is there any hardware faults or something?

Hi,

How much ram is installed in the laptop?

Photogrammetry programs are usually resource hungry i.e. use a lot of memory so if 8GB it may not be enough depending on what else is happening in the laptop at the time

Check Task Manager > Startup to see how many programs are loaded at startup that don't have to be as they are using resources unnecessarily which may be used elsewhere.

Check in Event Viewer for Critical, Error and Warning events logged at the time the problem occurred to see if they (if any) give a clue as to what is happening.

It is 8GB soldered RAM, yes I acknowledge that photogrammetry is a RAM-hungry program, but I ran it just for reproducing the problems.

On the event viewer, it shows "CRITICAL - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. ..."

I was running the programs again, and the laptop shutdown unexpectedly. I managed to briefly record it with my phone. Can I post video here, or put it elsewhere?

Here's how to add images to your "question" - not possible in a comment.

Did you check task manager > startup, you never said?

Try running the Win 10 memory diagnostic program just to eliminate a bad memory problem.

@jayeff Thankyou for your respond, im apologize not updating my case. I have looking into Startup Programs and services, but nothing odds, because it was a clean windows installation, except for photogrammetry program that i installed it just to test the laptop.

And Im giving up for the laptop, so may be it was a faulty board or something

My first thought would be the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics adapter, since the problem seems to occur under heavy graphics use. I don't think Prime95 will stress the GPU as much as the CPU. Other programs that are running OK probably do not either. Given that, for the laptop to shut down like that there would need to be a serious PSU overload or temp rise of the GPU.
