Battery change, only two buttons work on the keyboard

I went through the incredibly complicated deal to change the battery of this computer. I followed instructions meticulously however upon notice my keyboard is not working. A couple letters show up so I can’t get past the password screen. I opened it back up to look in the one piece that says the keyboard light looks like it’s broken off but I don’t know if that means just the keyboard or only the keyboard back light or what? Is there any options to bring it into a store to have it really fixed or is it basically trashed?
