Thank you for that in depth reply! Very kind. A change in satellite systems... Could be! Maybe give it a week and it may recover. I've tried every setting possible I think. And being a truck driver having an accurate delivery time is essential... But guess I'll just have to put up with it.

Many thanks.

Got the same problem- will have to bin it, which is what they want. But I won’t buy Tom Tom again…

Hi, I have a 430XL with very similar problem. On mine, the clock “works” in that you can set it, and if you power-off and then power it back on, it retains the time across the power cycle. HOWEVER, after a few minutes of its being ON (maybe until it locks on the satellites?) the clock resets to 0:00 just like yours.

This just started happening a few days ago. I *strongly think* it’s related to the “epoch rollover” of the GPS system ( https://arstechnica.com/information-tech... ). If so, and it doesn’t clear up in a few days, it’s probably permanent :-(

My unit otherwise works fine. The time is always 12:00AM, but the “arrival time” is still the correct # of minutes from that, and the map/navi functions are all as usual.

I could be wrong too, but this just started happening a few days ago…so seems related. (sadly!)…

Yes, TomTom may have a fix! Go to https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/updates/ Good Luck!

Thanks for the link! Looks like a Tom Tom update is needed as they are rebooting the satellites! Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

I went there, downloaded the software, installed it, and tried to update and was told they don't support my GPS. I can get correct time by turning device off and back on again, but this isn't very safe in high-speed traffic. This doesn't make me want to buy another Tomtom.

well I certainly won't be buying any tomtom product if they ship them with faulty software. Get the software right first THEN ship the product. Updates always f%%k up more than they fix

I have an older TomTom and it resets to 12:00 am as well. I have heard big electronics/computer companies (maybe Apple, Microsoft etc) screw with the s/w so you will give them even more money for a new product all the while shrugging and saying they have no idea what could be wrong. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi,

Does the clock work OK when the charger is connected to the unit? You didn’t specify.

If it does and it doesn’t work when on battery only I’m wondering if the battery is failing and needs to be replaced.

How old is the unit?

Even rechargeable batteries have a lifespan.

Here’s a link to the ifixit TomTom XL Battery Replacement guide which maybe of some help.

Replacement batteries are available online.

Just search for 6027A0090721 to get results for suppliers.

Here’s a link to just one supplier. It it shown only to give an idea of the cost of the part. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better.

Has it been less than a year since the purchase of the device? If so, you can send it in to TomTom to get it repaired.

My answer is that i love my tom tom. It actually may be between 10 and 20 years old. Just the other day i left it in a hot car and on, and i started having problems. Map wouldn’t come up, couldn’t find GPS ,clock wasn’t working. I reset to factory while charging. Successfully lost all my info. Repeated attempts to sync the clock but would only last a couple of seconds then back to 12am. Everything else seems to work other than it also wont let me keep same vehicle and the battery is constantly charging and never attaining a full charge. My suggestion is plug it in for a couple of hours. Don’t use it during the charging and try again in a week. I think it will work. One other thing; when i used to turn it on it would chime. Now it only does it when i hold the button for 15 seconds. Then it brings ne to the “i agree” screen and my current position appears. Go figure. Todays date 7/21/19
