Ring Floodlight Camera not powering on

Hi, I know this is not the correct location for this post but it is as close as I can get for the correct location to post this. I have a Ring Floodlight cam and when I plugged it in the floodlights come on but the actual camera does not appear to be working and I can't get the unit into setup mode or factory reset mode.

The sensor light never flashes. When I turn on and off the switch to the floodlight, you can see the light quickly turn on and off momentarily. Does anybody know how to open the actual camera portion? I want to open it and see if the capacitors are blown. Any advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunaely,

I have had the same thing happen except my floodlight & camera worked for 7 months, then one morning it was was just dead; no floodlight, no camera. Double checked the wiring although it was correctly configured by an electrician the first time. If I flip the switch to the lights on or off the light comes on for a second then turns of just like your experience. Now I don't even have a floodlight for my back yard so i had to buy a new floodlight and it works in same electric recepticale just fine. Camera will not enter setup mode just like you. No colored indicators even after hard reset. I think it is a hardware engineering defect. Did you get a resolution to this problem. $250 for 7 months of operation is a huge disappointment!

Same issue with Floodlight Cam i’ve had for 2 years. It seems to magically come back online very sporadically if i do nothing. Like once every week or 2. it will work for 1-3 days and then act like its dead again. No clue what the fix is, but not something i want to pay $250 to replace.

Hi @dustin1 ,

If it works intermittently, (do the lights work correctly even if the camera doesn't?) then it may be a power supply problem to the camera/wifi electronics.

If you feel inclined and as the unit is no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty, disconnect and remove the unit and open it up and inspect the connections inside the unit.

The power that supplies the lights must also supply the electronics.

Check for dry solder joints etc on the circuit board for the device. It may be something simple but you won't know unless you look.

Post some images back here and hopefully someone may spot something if you can't see anything.

Here's how to do this.

You cannot post images in a "comment" on ifixit so start a new question or post it as an 'Answer" below. It is the same method for a question and an answer

Mine worked for exactly 30 days and then completely dead (not intermittent). Power checked and good; followed all reset procedures. Took it down, hooked up on my bench; nothing, nada, dead, dead, dead as a door nail.

I have the same problem with my floodlight cam. The lights work fine but the cam intermittently connects. Now it won’t power up at all. Ive tried all the resets and troubleshooting but no success.
