Help finding the correct screen replacement

Hey everyone,

Lurker for a bit, first time poster.

My wife has an iPhone 6S MKT22L/a (Rose Gold 64 GB). About a month ago our baby girl decided to break mommies phone. I've done plenty of repair work so I figured what the heck and bought what I thought was the right display.

This is what I purchased:

*Notice there is only 2 ribbon cables*

When I broke down her phone, I noticed that the stock display had 3 ribbon cables. I installed it anyway and needless to say, it did not work so I went looking for another one. During my search, I found that nearly every single "iphone 6s replacement display" has only two ribbon cables - I'm still quite confused.

Anyhow, I finally found one with three ribbon cables:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JK...

When it came in, I replaced it and all was working, until yesterday the screen began to flash. Looks like bad display.

Anyhow, could someone shed some light on the 2 ribbon cable vs 3 ribbon cable displays? Why would the same model have different displays?

Also, if you have any recommendations of the 3 ribbon variety I'm all ears.

Thanks,

Bill

Screens that have three connectors include the Front Camera/Sensor Flex.

Screens that have two connectors do not include the Front Camera/Sensor Flex.

There's no right or wrong here, it's a question of preference and cost. Personally, I prefer to transfer over the original camera/sensor flex as that way I have a true original part. Small parts, such as camera flexes tend to suffer from poor quality.

When you replace your screen, you have to migrate the LCD Shield plate and, if necessary, the FCAM/Sensor flex. Look at this guide for reference.

No, IMHO, I dont encourage you to be buying 30$ iPhone 6S parts on Amazon or eBay. Generally speaking, it is mostly bottom of the barrel parts that end up on those sites. Order from a reputable supplier like iFixit or any other supplier that stands behind their products with a lifetime warranty.

@refectio Thanks for the explanation with regards to ribbon cabling. Unfortunately I don't have the original display so I'll have to purchase a new one. I used this guide when replacing it, but the extra steps are good to know.

Thank you very much!

You can still use the front camera assembly and extra parts from the last screen you purchased.
