How can I repair my phone from water damage

@khemmy first things first. Rice is not a tool. It is great food but a lousy repair solution. It absolutely does not do anything. Skip it.

You approach this the same way as any other water damaged phone. The first thing you want to do is to stop using your phone, trying to turn it on or connecting it to any power source. This will most likely cause further trouble. Next step is to disassemble your phone. Use these guides for that. Take a careful and close look at all components and connectors. Truly assess the damage. Look for corrosion, evaluate the pins in the connectors etc,. Take a look at all connectors as well as cable ends. Remove all the EMI shields.If you do not remove those you are not cleaning the board properly. Clean everything with +90% (no less than 90%) isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide, and even so it was written for an Apple 3G iPhone, all the points are still pertinent to your phone. Pay particular attention to the SMD components, check for charred, missing or broken components. You can then dry the board in an oven or equivalent at 220deg F (not higher;-) for a few hours. Best way to clean it would of course be through an ultrasonic cleaner. Consider professional help with that When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. This is a must since the battery will fail. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate. You can only determine what damage your phone has after you've cleaned it properly.

Keep in mind that water damage is the hardest to troubleshoot and to repair.
