Need to fix backlight

Laptop got a little wet. Took it apart, dried it out, turns on and functions except screen. Bought replacement screen and installed, didn't solve issue. After some research online seems to be a backlight issue as i can see my desktop with a flashlight. What are some things I can do to fix it? Do I need to replace a cable?
