The screen of my Kindle 4 is slowly fading. I can hardly read it any more. The device hasn't been dropped or gone anywhere near water. What causes this? Can it be easily fixed?

It sounds like your e-ink display is defective. If the kindle is still under warranty, you should try to send it back to amazon and get a replacement. If it is not, you may be able to buy a replacement screen and replace it yourself.

How likely is a screen replacement to fix the problem?
I don't know how to do it . If it costs a lot ! I can't do it

Have you tried to adjust the brightness yet?

This is a plain Kindle 4 with e-ink. There is no back light. There isn't any brightness adjustment.
