My unit just quit working.

Does anyone know how to open the unit without destroying it? Once I get it open does anyone know any common problems these units have?

The rubber bottom comes off and there are four screws. Problem is what to do after it's open. Are you getting any power to it? To open my power adapter I ended up taking a hammer and hitting it over a dozen times(This baby is tough). After opening I really found no user replaceable parts and ordered a new one in from China. It took 18 days to get, but I now have a working Airport.

I think you are talking about a different unit. My unit is about the size of a laptop power supply and has an Ethernet port, a USB port and a speaker port. I used it for a printer on the network or a set of exteranl speakers. It is called an Airport Express base station. There is no rubber bottom.. as stated earlier, looks like a laptop power supply (3"x 3-3/4" x 1-1/8").

The bottom of mine say "Airport Extreme Base Station". My error, yours is the Express. fj713's link is excellent.

To quote vonwentzel "there is little one can do inside the Express, anyway, as every component is integrated right onto the mother- or daughter-board. There are no more separate transmitter cards, jacks, etc., so there really is no reason to open the Express besides curiousity and the desire to void the warranty as quickly as possiblthere is little one can do inside the Express, anyway, as every component is integrated right onto the mother- or daughter-board.
