SSD slot on logicboard or not

So on the 2013 model there is an SSD (blade) slot on the logic board even if you ordered the iMac without ssd or fusion.

is that also the case with this 2014 model? can anyone confirm?

pictures on the iFixit manual says its not, but then again this model does not have a teardown to dubble check.

could anyone confirm what the status of the SSD blade socket is on the logicboard?

No guys! It is not! I bought iMac 21.5 Mid 2014, i5 1.4Ghz, intel hd 5000, 500gb hdd, and I can confirm there is no Pcie slot! I do not know how to check logic board model on terminal, maybe there is some with slot?

juliusgoncarukas - I stand corrected!

Yes, this is one that if bought with a solo HD does not have the SSD blade hardware populated on the logic board. It also has soldered RAM

Not sure I follow you here. First this is the IFIXIT guide to gain access to it: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2805 SSD Replacement.

Apple failed to populate to needed hardware on only the very first version of the newer 'Thin Series' 21.5" iMac (EMC 2544) back in 2012 and only in the lower end model which it then finally stopped doing once people complained.

So the bottom line here is: All of the 2016 and the most current version of the 21.5" have the SSD slot hardware present
