ps3 wont read disk

hi everyone my ps3 super slim wont read any disk when i put a disk in it makes a few click sounds then like a engine rev, i can tell i spins the disk i put in but not 360 what Im saying is it spins ones then stops and i does not show that the disk is in i do not know why its doing this but two days ago it work fine then today i turn it on and what do you know. oh and its only two years old i got it in late 2012 everything else works on the ps3 i just hate to buy a new one because im high ranks online in most of my games gta5 bf4 gt6 bo2 ect

Well i been having my ps3 super slim for 6 months and two day ago i try to play gta online and my system said update to 4.76 .....so i did it and now it wont read any of my games what can i do to fix it.

My console Can play PS1 Games however... still wont play other stuff like PS3 or 2 and no Blu-Rays

well my system made the clicking sounds but it spinned but when the next day started i turned it on and now my system stops playing games completely

I'm having same problem. I had to buy a new ps3 bc the one I got when they first came out tore up. My new one is a few years old. It just reads sometimes then not read sometimes.makes the clicking noise. But u can fix it by turning the lens a certain way. Just I'm not smart enough to do that :( don't worry if u buy a new ps3 it won't affect trophys any online ranks etc. Bc your online stuff is always there as long as u sign in with the same name. It has something to do with the lens. But if u do want to buy a new one u can probably get one round 20 bucks at yard sales or pawn shops. There's some games I need to finish. And play and my ps3 will not read discs. Also on mw3 it would freeze all the time after 2 hours of ejecting and reinstating the disc so it would read. Never been so mad in all my life. Cd players DVD players do the same thing

My name is Stephen.w and I'm here to help you. It's not the disc or the laser it's the disc stopper what your gonna need to do is remove the back panel and by the door of your disc cover you'll see a little plastic wing slide the cover back and there's your problem lift up the little tab and insert a small pick or something what I did was I got a small plastic pick and cut it in a angle and made one side big and the other small and dipped it in super glue and placed it in and that's it disc spins and now you can play. Now remember if wemon don't find you handsome they'll at least find you handy lol P.S for the PS3 super slim

turn it off, hold in the power button until it beeps once twice and then a 3rd time, take your finger off. then hold it in again you will here it beep once then a short time after a second beep and a short time after that two close beeps take your finger straight off, ur system will turn on it will give u a list starting with restart your system, go for rebuild data base hope this help, u can try them all if this doesnt work

Hey Stefan my name is Kenny I don't know if this post is still active or what anyway I have a PlayStation 3 slim it could be the super slim I'm not quite sure I know it's just the one with the sliding door on the top. When I put a disc in it spins but then eventually stop spinning and then starts spinning again and then stops spinning. The eye sensor is lit it seems to be trying to read the disc but whatever the boxes called that slides up and down the metal rods on each side of it one has twist going up the other is just a straight rod so therefore it cannot scan the whole disc I believe it's the problem because that's what I see I have taken it apart and the twist rod on the one side is connected and it does turn but it seems like the maybe the itself stops turning I'm not quite sure but I know it turns and I know it catches it just does not stay turning Maybe everything else I else works hopefully you understand this and if you have any ideas please reply I would gladly appreciate it thank you

I have found a cure! On my system everything but the optical drive worked fine, no overheating and good picture. But the optical drive eventually would not read discs! At first I had to put it on its side (opposite side to screw-in vertical stand) and keep it there. That's ONE temporary fix..another that I soon discover when that eventually stopped working was MANUALLY SLIDING OPTICAL DRIVE TO LEFT POSITION BEOFRE STARUP. Found that it was very stiff and the motor wasn't able to move optics to "read" position and where simply stuck in open!
