Background and Identification
ZOLL Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company, is a producer of medical devices and software solutions. ZOLL manufactures products for defibrillation and monitoring, circulation and CPR feedback, data management, therapeutic temperature management, and ventilation. Asahi Kasei Group has operations in the material, homes, and healthcare business sectors. A ventilator is a machine that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of a person’s lungs to deliver breaths to a patient who is breathing insufficiently or physically unable to breathe. Modern ventilators are computerized microprocessor-controlled machines that are primarily used in intensive care medicine, home care, emergency medicine, and anesthesiology. Ventilators are sometimes called “respirators,” though medical terminology uses the word “respirator” to refer to a protective face-mask.

The Z Vent is a portable ventilator used for EMS and hospital applications while the EMV+ is designed to meet military transport standards and can be used for air medical and ambulance transport of patients.
